The election’s about abortion

Or at least, if you believe some of the sources I read for a work job then that’s the only issue at stake here.

Except:

In a Reuters/Ipsos poll only eight per cent of Americans chose abortion rights as the most important issue for them. It found 20 per cent of female Democrat voters said abortion was the most important issue, but 22 per cent said inflation.

Except the people don’t, in fact, think it the most important issue. Those damn voters, eh?

  1. The shriekers are all going to vote D anyway, it’s what matters to the swing voters that will decide the election… as is the case in any election.

  2. Every commentator who thinks X is the big issue for them, always seems to claim that X is the big issue for the voters too.

Imagine there are plenty of people claiming it’s “the climate election” too.

What kind of life must you be leading when the opportunity to legally kill your own hypothetical children is the “most important issue”?

  4. The most important thing for me is to get the boundary review implemented next June. Surely that’s the number one for everybody else. Hey, why’s my party leader demanding an election right now?

There is no demographic more afflicted by mental illness than leftist American women.

  6. All of the Democrats’ ads here in the Albany TV market are “Republican opponent is dangerous/cruel/extreme on abortion”. The Republicans are mostly going on about how cashless bail caused an increase in crime, and some about the economy.

So for TEAM BLUE, it *is* all about abortion, because that’s the only thing they have to try to scare the people adjacent to their core into voting for them.

Are the ads actually “Republican opponent is dangerous/cruel/extreme on women’s rights“?

Not sure the word “abortion” sells well, even for Democrats.

  8. If it’s the federal elections we’re discussing what can abortion have to do with it? SCOTUS hath spoke: the Constitution forbids this from being a federal matter. (Quite right too, in my opinion. Let the states adopt whatever laws they want on the subject.)
