Trump’s just such a terrible negotiator, right?

Boeing lost $766 million during the third quarter of this year on the project to build two planes that will serve as the next Air Force One, the company said in its latest earnings report.

The figure takes the company’s losses for the project to $1.9 billion since it began.

“Supply chain, inflation, labor shortages, macroeconomic challenges are challenging for everybody,” Dave Calhoun, the CEO of Boeing, said during the call to discuss the company’s earnings.

Boeing is liable for the cost of any overruns in the project under a deal struck with the White House to produce the two VC-25s in 2018. Then-President Donald Trump played a personal role in the negotiations to agree on the fixed-price deal.

As long as they get the planes. If the deal is so hard it drives them out of business then you’ve wasted years in getting what you want and you will pay a higher price anyway.

Indeed. Add in the fact that Boeing knows the US Govt. is almost certainly not going to let them go out of business; knows the current aircraft can’t keep flying forever, they can just ride out the clock on this one and get bailed out anyway.

Surely everyone knows the sole purpose of “right wing” leadership is to stuff crony big business pockets with taxpayer cash, as the sole purpose of “left wing” leadership is to stuff crony voter pockets with taxpayer cash?

Therefore Trump is a miserable failure.
