Editors, editors

The RAF is sending Kyiv supplies of its latest laser-guided rocket, which can travel at double the range of the previous model

Back when this blog first started, near two decades back, a constant refrain was “Don’t these people have editors?” The point being that blogs were packed with typos, solecisms, errors and the relationship to facts could be dubious. But those newspapers, they had layers of editors to check all of that. So, when such an error was found we get that observation, that question.

Now it’s not worth making the point. For, of course, they don’t any more. Says someone who knows some of those subs who have been moved on over the years.

  1. So they’ve run out of the stockpile of old stuff to send them and want to do some live trials on the new kit. I except we will less enthusiasm from the military leaders once it’s their shiny new toys being sent by the politicians to Ukraine

I think the military will be delighted. It proves the toys work well and that there is a need for them, so they’re therefore very likely to get more and better toys

  3. I didn’t have my coffee when I first read it and couldn’t work out what was wrong. I’ve now re-read it and fully understand Tim’s point. I will willing accept demerit points for being slow.

Now is the winter of our discontent. Note that Putin is not imposing energy sanctions on the West. The UK and EU do not have to freeze to death and shut down industry. Taking ever more active a part in this crazy war of megalomaniac versus gangster is not a good way to open a bridge to obtain that needed energy. Neither Putin and his gang of thieves nor the Western leaders and their well-fed cabinets will ever have to turn the heating down one degree, or fill up with bread and jam in the absence of caviar and truffles. The pawns, peons and peasants have to suffer the consequences. The same narcissists who fucked us in the eyeball over COVID are now flexing their weedy muscles for a second round.

Not in the short term, but long term the energy from a humbled Russia will be a lot cheaper in every sense than that from a successful and emboldened Russia.
