Eh?

Sure. I agree that shooting up a bar of people is a bad thing. But, but:

Joe Biden, the US President, said: “Places that are supposed to be safe spaces of acceptance and celebration should never be turned into places of terror and violence. Yet it happens far too often.”
“We must drive out the inequities that contribute to violence against LGBTQI+ people. We cannot and must not tolerate hate.”

What in buggery’s this “inequity” thing that leads to it? We supposed to be thinking that raising the food stamp allocation reduces club violence?

  1. It may be that the quotation marks contain what Dopey Joe meant to say. But if you’re going to use quotation marks I suspect a more correct version would be: “Oh, er, uh, umm, did that one smell? Where am I? What am I doing? Damn, get me to a bathroom, quick!”

  2. A circumstance where the State gets to prove its assertion of a growth in right wing terrorism. Just like it has over here with that maniac who tried to firebomb the migrant centre.

  3. Club Q was the latest in a series of gay venues to be attacked in the US.

In June 2016, a gunman opened fire inside Pulse nightclub in Orlando, killing 49 people and wounding more than 50, in what was then the deadliest mass shooting in modern US history.

And in Seattle, 700 people miraculously avoided injury after Musab Mohammed Masmari, 30, poured petrol on the stairs of a gay nightclub and set it alight.

3 incidents in 8 years, in a country of over 300,000,000 people, makes it “the latest in a series” of attacks.

  4. Good point, Steve. Given the nature of the nightclub world, I’d imagine “attacks on clubs” of one sort or another are likely weekly events. We had a shooting, one dead, at a Marbella club a few weeks ago. Another at a club just along the road from me – two wounded – earlier this year. They’re just the one’s I know about because they’ve happened on the doorstep. They’re so common they don’t even make the nationals.

  5. BiS – there’s definitely enough low-level criminality around pubs and clubs to keep local rozzers busy, but they’re trying to make gay bars sound like the Battle of Helm’s Deep (ooh, naughty missus).

Does that one get added to the benefits of diversity then? Or was old Musab part of the well known redneck MAGA community in Seattle?

Similarly, Omar Mir Seddique Mateen only shot up that Orlando gay bar to demand lower taxes, a smaller state, and the right to bear arms.

  8. OT but kind of related, I was thinking about all the current media hoo-hah about the Qatar world cup and the anti-gay laws in place there. There’s lots of stuff about how homosexuality is illegal in Qatar etc etc, but absolutely nothing about WHY that is the case. Its as if they would have you believe that Qatar is just some sort of nasty right wing Trump supporting place that hates gays for nothing other than personal animosity. The fact that its an Islamic fundamentalist State and that the entire raison d’etre for their anti-homosexual stance is based on their religious beliefs is completely ignored. Can’t go painting Islam as a bunch of gay haters now can we!

Ah, Biden’s playing “buzzword bingo” again.

  10. Club Q was the latest in a series of gay venues to be attacked in the US.

And the first two were attacked by members of the Religion of Peace, which is known to not like teh gayers all that much, but we can’t talk about that. And both those stories conveniently disappeared from the news not long after. I know nothing about Club Q, but I’m guessing if Sleepy Joe is yapping they probably finally got their evil white guy who isn’t a member of the RoP.

  11. It’s funny how people assume the current geriatric sock puppet in the Oval Office gets to write his own speeches….

  12. Mayor Beetlejuice of Chicago tweeted some virtue signaling about the carnage. Only to get ratioed to hell by people pointing out that was normal casualty toll for a weekend in Chicago.
