It is fun this

The board wrote that Fetterman’s “life experience and maturity” were also concerns because he “lived off his family’s money for much of his life,” and had “little experience in holding real jobs or facing the problems of working people.”

It also cited Fetterman’s lack of apology over in an incident in which he pulled a shotgun on an unarmed Black jogger after hearing gunshots, and his flip-flop on supporting fracking.

“Mr. Oz is extraordinarily wealthy, but achieved his worldwide fame and success largely through his own talent and determination,” the board wrote.

It’s the R that is the self-made and talented guy, the D that is the trust fund brat.

Of course that’s true of Pritzkers and Kennedys too but still……

  1. It’s the R that is the self-made and talented guy . . .

He’s only a good candidate compared to the brain damaged shit-bag he’s up against. It might be enough.

Joe Rogan said he expects the midterm red wave to be like the elevator doors opening in The Shining. That would be entertaining.

  2. Dr Oz is the US Dr Hillary

Lockdown, mask & jab mandate zealot and a “Do as I say, not as I do” hypocrite

Self made rich? We don’t know; he’s Turkish and has frequently said his allegiance is to Turkey not US

As for the giant Uncle Fester: well Dems like brainless puppets – Biden, Harris, AOC…

    @Dennis, anything?

  3. That’s my hometown’s paper. It’s the more liberal one too, compared to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, so this is pretty big. They also endorsed Trump in 2020, to the chagrin of many of their own readers. Other than that, they supported Hillary, Obama, Kerry, Gore, etc.

The rust belt can be naively liberal at times, but the voice of reason at others.

  4. They’re both terrible candidates to be fair, but I’ve seen way more self-made people on the right side of politics than the other way round. That’s probably not a surprise, as the kind of hard work and grit that gets you success from nothing aligns pretty well with conservatism – at least of the fiscal variety.

The left is infested with trust fund idiots and chardonnay socialists who will never personally feel the effects of their terrible policies.

  5. Even if the Republicans take the house and senate, still no gimme with possible counting malarkey to come*, the agenda will still be tightly controlled by McConnell – the ultimate uniparty man.

Should any long-overdue common sense bills be passed Biden46 will veto them in the knowledge that the requisite 2/3rds majority in both houses will never happen. In addition he will still sign pretty much any Executive Orders his handlers put in front of him without fear of pushback from a compliant media and a supine judiciary.

Finally we have Kevin McCarthy (McConnell’s mini-me) already declaring that Congress, under his squishy leadership, will not seek to impeach anyone including the President.

Rather like the conservatives over here they want to be in office but once there have zero interest in the actual needs of the country or the wishes of the people.

    * on Sunday night Brazil managed to count approx 115,000,000 votes and declare the result of a close contest within a few hours. Let’s see how America stacks up this time after the banana republic style fiascos of 2020 in Pennsylvania, Georgia etc.

  6. John – Rather like the conservatives over here they want to be in office but once there have zero interest in the actual needs of the country or the wishes of the people.

But Priti Suella promised they’d start deporting suspiciously bearded child refugees. Any day now! And – as if by magic:

PM takes on ‘woke’ policing after telling cops to ‘fight crime, not bad jokes on Twitter’
    31 October 2022

The magic of the ‘Culture War’ is that it doesn’t cost money or require them to do anything. They can keep this scam going right up till Labour wins the next election, and then keep it going some more from the opposition benches. Like wot gullible Yanks being set up for another chance to kick Lucy’s football in the midterms are experiencing.

    Take THAT, wokies!

  7. tbh. It’s also having fought your way through one silly bureaucratic obstacle after another that tends to push the self made into the conservative camp.

Regarding trust fund brats. I saw it stated once that Paris Hilton really didn’t inherit a ton of money (probably quite a bit for a young girl, but apparently not enough to buy her own hotel), so she’s since become the only Hilton since Conrad to build her own fortune.

  8. Any idiot can make compassionate-sounding speeches. That’s why I don’t pay attention to words. Obama said all kinds of nice things at first, and then he gave Iran a nuclear deal. Oz is clearly more likely to keep PA functioning. Fetterman will just decimate energy production and tech innovation, while commissioning a mural for climate action downtown. And he’ll cry about his stroke if you get the least bit upset with him.

  9. 20th century politics was labour vs. capital, current politics is wealth consumers vs. wealth producers. Traditionally the consumers win, and then starve.

  10. TD: “tbh. It’s also having fought your way through one silly bureaucratic obstacle after another that tends to push the self made into the conservative camp.”

    Absolutely correct and well noted.

  11. Brazil can count rapidly and (relatively) accurately, because they only allow voting on the day, none of this malarky made for fraud mail in voting schemes and anonymous Dropbox collections with highly questionable chain of custody issues.

Brazil votes on the day bar a relatively small number of absentee and special votes, so counting is relatively straightforward. In the USA, the system has been deliberately engineered to enable fraud, and to make it hard to detect said fraud. So it takes time.
