About songs with structure

This is what I mean in the comments about Florence and the Machine. It’s a delightful little song and clearly appropriate for today. Sure, there’s an atmosphere to it. A design, a soundscape. But there’s also a structure, a beginning, middle, end.

  1. I don’t know why I like Fleetwood Mac. They are/were all talented musicians. Their material was always fresh, unlike Kinks who kept on writing the same song over and again. But it was very middle of the road and as in this number, the lyrics were pretty mundane. My mistake in pretending to ho-hum is to judge them by later standards. At the time there was almost no quality competition. They were so far ahead.
