How things have changed

Expressing what he said was a “hatred” for the Duchess, the former Top Gear presenter made the comments in his regular Sun newspaper column.

He wrote: “At night, I’m unable to sleep as I lie there, grinding my teeth and dreaming of the day when she is made to parade naked through the streets of every town in Britain while the crowds chant, “Shame!” and throw lumps of excrement at her. Everyone who’s my age thinks the same way.”

Fairly standard Clarksonian rhetorical flight there.

Mr Clarkson’s comments also drew a backlash from other public figures including Nimco Ali, the former government adviser on tackling violence against women and girls, who said: “A young black woman opens up about her struggle with suicidal thoughts as a result of the abuse she got from the media and this is how some men in the media react. This is absolutely horrific.”

Black, struggle, suicidal. Gerroutofit, she’s a narcissist whining at insufficient attention. But more importantly in terms of detailing those changing standards she’s not a young woman. She’s a middle aged matron. Fact that is.

  1. Everyone who’s my age thinks the same way.

I don’t give a shit. Sleeping fine. Thinking of other things when not.

  2. The revelation is that Clarkson’s excrement comes in lumps. Painful!

Or maybe Farmer Jeremy is thinking of dried cow pats.

I suppose Steve would recommend lion poo.

  3. Do “former government adviser[s] on tackling violence against women and girls” have to remind us daily that the duchess is Black so we don’t forget, given that it’s not immediately obvious?

  4. Strange how the alleged “comedian” Jo Brand was cheered to the rafters when she “joked” about wanting to throw acid in Nigel Farage’s face, but Jeremy Clarkson needs to be cancelled for writing a Clarkson style article. If it wasn’t for their double standards the virtue signallers would have no standards at all.

  5. In an act of national contrition pictures of Mehagain should adorn every jar of Robertson’s Golden Shred, some with a banjo, some with a washboard etc. like in the good ol’ days.

  6. Nobody seems to understand the woman’s a gig. What she appears to be is what she does as a career. Very well at that. Provoking reactions like Clarkson’s is the sort of “drama” she’s trying to achieve. You want to play along with her, you’re welcome.

  7. @bis
On the contrary, she seems genuinely unhappy to me. How you can be unhappy with your fairy tale prince in a nineteen toilet mansion is a bit of a mystery, but some people are just like that, I suppose.

I do resent the time I spend thinking about her, and have no wish to see her paraded through every town in Britain, naked or not.

  8. Isn’t Jezza just channeling a bit of GoT? Where Cersei had to parade through the streets starkers and be pelted with poo as a penance.
Can’t imagine why a bloke of a certain age would remember that.

  9. Well of course she’s unhappy, Philip.
    1) The role the actress is playing requires it. And no doubt she was taught method acting.
    2) It goes with the business. If you’ve ever been anywhere around actors you’d know they’re the most miserable people going. Quote I picked up reading yesterday “We wouldn’t worry half so much what people thought about us, if we knew how seldom they do. Not original I’m afraid: Ambrose Bierce” A character in Close Up Len Deighton. Don’t suppose she’s read either of them. Or would understand if she had. None of them can.

  10. have to remind us daily that the duchess is Black so we don’t forget, given that it’s not immediately obvious

Yes. I watched the first couple of series of Suits on “Dave” when they first aired in the UK, so about 2013.
It never occurred to me that she was black till an episode where her fictional father made an appearance. I was shocked that he was so black and put it down to bad casting. It never occurred to me that she could in any way be described as black. Incidentally she was the weakest of the main 6 actors, but you have probably guessed that.

There is a certain type of modern feminist that seems to thrive on manufactured outrage arising from the slights of others. MeGain might seem to be the archetype (snigger), but it’s been around a long time and she’s only a bit player. The political race grifters of the US Democratic party have been running this scam since before I was born.

Imagine, living in a palace with millions in the bank and more millions coming in through the book / TV deals and coming on with the “poor me’s”.

    Lions. With Lasers.

  12. No less a Guardian-approved saint than Philip Pullman also joined the pile-in on Twitter, only to have it pointed out to him that he ‘dreamed’ of BoJo being strung up from a lamp post.

  13. The best thing would be to ignore her, that would really sting.
Same with Trump if the media stopped attacking him it would be much more effective

  14. The Jan 6th committee has just made its final recommendations which with any luck will help clear the patch for DeSantis47.
