Harry Potter star Rupert Grint has been accused of offering a “cynical” sweetener to villagers surrounding the country estate where he hopes to build a new “eco-village” by offering them free land.
The actor, who played Ron Weasley in the film series, wants to build five detached houses and four affordable terraced homes on his Kimpton Grange Estate in Hertfordshire.
He has offered to provide extra land to the owners of several properties that back on to the estate that would provide them with gardens.
But some of the villagers have accused Mr Grint of a ploy to win over the support of locals, many of whom have objected to the plans to build on protected greenbelt land.
The argument is about the price of course, not the idea…….
And there is, of course, no way to tell the NIMBYs to “go boil their head”..
Expelliamus, you greedy vandalising thespian incomer.
That young man looks rougher than a badger’s arse after it joined an SNP funded LGBTQ youth club.
“no way to tell the NIMBYs to “go boil their head”.”
An imprecation which works better in Scottish, “Awa n’ bile yer heid!”
I’ve heard (through various contacts) that Rupert Grint is not a nice person to do business with. He was in the process of buying a property from someone in France and basically messed up the whole process in attempts to get the price lowered. This was after signing contracts etc and pretty much agreeing to the original price. The sellers eventually gave up and he lost the deal through his petty actions.
Is he one of the ungrateful twats who made their fortunes on the back of JK Rowling and now accuse her, falsely, of being an anti Trans bigot and TERF?
@Rhoda I’m afraid my attempts at Feegle aren’t good enough to pull that one off.. 🙁

Yes, he is, and like all of the young Harry Potter “actors” he’s a thick, talentless cvnt as well.
But even worse, this fvcker’s a thick, talentless ginger cvnt.
Hell, it even sounds better in English “go and boil their head”: subAmerican always seems lame to me – much lamer than actual American spoken by actual Yanks.
To be fair, the blond one who played a boy villain has defended Rowling.

Can anyone remember when the whole point of making squillons was to buy a huge property and acres of land well away from the ghastly hoi polloi?
Not have their hovels anywhere near your land, unless they were working on it or serving in the big house?
*tch* modern day movie stars…
The affordable terraces is also a bribe and wouldn’t surprise me if it ends up being used for staff etc.
One of my relatives lives in what used to be the gamekeepers cottage on an old estate so not a new idea
In contrast to some comments above I’ve heard of Rupert Grint as behaving pretty decently but having others trying to rip him off/taking the p…
Much outrage in life is merely price negotiation. “I’m oppressed” can usually be cured with money.
This is precisly how planning should work, by giving the people who are actually impacted some value for it. What usually happens instead is that the value goes to the people with the rubber stamp, ie the local council who demand shit like “affordable housing” and “infrastructure projects”. The same theory as the “mind yer motor, guv” urchins on South London housing estates.
Just had fun. Signed up to experiment with sudowrite. (www.sudowrite.com) Went through the intro, and then when it asked to write something so we could work together on it, I said I wanted to write a blog entry and copied/pasted the post we’re commenting on here. I give you now what it gave me:

The argument is about the price of course, not the idea…….
Stevenage Borough Council is currently considering the plans to build on the greenbelt land, which is currently used as an equestrian centre.
The council has received 45 letters of objection, as well as petitions signed by more than 200 people and a letter of concern from local MP Michael Baker.
Mr Baker said: “It’s very difficult in the current economic climate for young people to buy a house.
“But to build on greenbelt land is a problem.
“I would suggest to Mr Grint that he gives his land to a local charity that could then sell the land.
“It’s a win-win situation for everyone.”
A spokesman for Mr Grint said: “Mr Grint is keen to follow best practice.
“We will consider the viability of using some of the site for the purposes of a neighbourhood park.
“This would add significant value to the site which could be used”
No, of course I don’t fact check. But, hey…..
