Swingers are often snubbed by the rest of society – to the detriment of their health, according to a new study.
Researchers found that people in open relationships face negative attitudes from others that can impact their well-being.
Those in – supposedly – monogamous relationships aren’t likely to be all that keen on freebie givers around their – supposedly – monogamous partners.
And?
If only people kept their sexual practises to themselves and didn’t broadcast it to the world then they wouldn’t get any negative attitudes.
So people who like to peacock their sexual behaviour find others are not impressed and that makes them sad. Boo Hoo!
I would have thought the increased risk of contracting an STD from multiple partners was more likely to be truly detrimental to their health.
I would imagine that there is some stress involved in prising the relationship open when that’s not what your partner signed up for.

Curiously enough, swingers are probably the only one of the increasingly diverse sexual spectrum who do keep their preferences to themselves. Discretion’s a very big part of the lifestyle. Maybe that’s because there’s several orders of magnitude more of men would like to meet swinging couples than there are swinging couples.
I suspect most ‘open relationships’ are like polyamorous relationships, in that one player is getting exactly what they want and the other(s) go along with it. So partner 1 might love the swinging lifestyle, while the P2 has to put up with it because they fear losing P1.
Some peeps choose to do something that may attract stigma. Grant sucker conducts survey. Finds 4 out of 10 experience negative stigma. (bit low must try harder next time).Anyhow- stigma bad m’kay!?
@MC
But which way round would that be? Remember reading this years ago. Of couples in relationships, 5 times as many women are interested in swinging as a couple as men. I wonder why this could be?
