Tsk, I mean Tsk

The new chief executive of Rolls-Royce has delivered a blistering message on the future of the motoring engineering giant, telling staff it is a “burning platform”.

Dear Telegraph Peeps. That’s the wrong Rolls Royce. It’s the aero engine manufacturer with the problems, not the car maker.

Sigh.

IIRC, when BMW bought the RR car company, they found out that they didn’t own the RR trade mark. That was owned by the aero engine manufacturer. This led to their 1st Rolls-Royces not having the badge. (They had to make a new licensing deal to use it.)

re-locate everything to china? Certainly you’ll be ok for engineers. Sure- a bit of a political risk, but is it realistically more so than the known increasingly hostile euro/yankee regulation environment.

One should change its name to Royce Rolls.

Anyhoo, an ancient friend used to know a chap called Royce who worked for RR. Someone asked him “Are you the same family?”. He replied “Only genetically, not financially”.
