There are those who wish the West to be doomed. The Marxists desperately clinging on to their idea of capitalist exploitation in the richest proletarian society the world has ever seen. The potato shrieking that all of neoclassical economics is simply wrong. Shit, there are enough out there bemoaning the Enlightenment and equal rights and the demands of evidence and the scientific method. That “My Truth” scream is exactly that, a denial that there is such a thing as “The Truth”.
This before we get to the environmentalists who still think that coming down out of the trees was a bad idea.
With the environ-mentalists, it’s only really the turning point that they’ve gotten wrong.
Personally, I think it was a mistake for our ancestors to crawl out of the ocean and onto the land.

I think one needs to be very careful on the “Truth” thing. The Covid fiasco surely has taught us that. There is only the current paradigm which should always be open to question. Same as the “scientific method” & “evidence”. Scientists are primarily people & prone to all the failings of people. The “science” & the “evidence” may be simply what suits the purpose of the scientist.
It’s not that the concepts are wrong. The concepts are fine. But this is the real world. Are they operating?
