How very, very, English

In a successful attempt on the Lands End to John O’Groats record:

Quantities of spare wool vests, sweaters and socks were assembled — and some cool shirts in case we had sunshine in July.”

Not just the point about the weather, but the dry – ha ha – nature of the comment. Most English.

  1. The last time I remember someone celebrating very English humour it was a buffoon journalist called (I think) Henderson. English not British he emphasised. His example of choice was The Beano. Fuck me, what a dim bugger.

There was an ignorant woman in The Telegraph the other day celebrating trifle as a very English dish. No doubt she’ll later opine that marmalade is English.
