Rotten meat may have been unwittingly sold by supermarkets for years, it is claimed, with an alleged rogue supplier now at the centre of a criminal investigation.
Leading supermarket chains were on Wednesday night carrying out urgent checks to make sure that products containing meat processed by the company in question were no longer on shelves.
Ready meals, sandwiches, quiches and other produce sold in Tesco, Asda, the Co-op, Morrisons and Marks & Spencer contained meat produced by the Midlands-based firm, which cannot be named for legal reasons. Its factory also supplied the food manufacturer Oscar Mayer,
Umm, isn’t that what hot dogs are made of anyway?
Marks and Spencer..?!?!
Well if it was doing any harm, we’d have found out about it much sooner
Note: “no longer on the shelves”.. not a forced recall…. Hmmmmm…..
“Alledged Rogue Supplier” is …. an interesting choice of words..
Not: “inept/corrupt inspectors” if they’ve been at it for years..
Another justification for making your own meals from scratch from fresh chicken, beef, lamb or whatever. The sniff test is imperfect, but I can usually spot not just bad but turning meat from the moment you open up the packet, then straight in the bin. Seldom happens nowadays, but occasionally.
“cannot be named for legal reasons”
Why not?
I wondered the same, but then considered the case that they might in fact be innocent. Having their name plastered all over the media would fuck their business just as much as if they were guilty.
It’s obviously because of Brexit. Oh, if only we had had the commonsense to remain in the EU and be subject to their regulationary standards and rigor, we would have been spared this disaster:

I wonder if allowing people exemptions from certain rules on religious grounds might not tempt them to feel they can ignore other rules
We talking “Oy Vey” or “Allah Akbhar”?
@John Galt. Very amusing.
