For the first time in three years, a self-made woman earns a spot among the top 10.

The rest lucky sperm club or bonked their way into getting it in widowhood.

Pulling their weight in making the world that richer place, eh?

  1. MacKenzie Scott (Jeff Bezos’ ex-wife) divorced her way into the Billionaire females club, rather than sperm donored or widowed her way in.

I suspect that applies to more than one of them as well.

  2. Interesting that the “self-made” billionaire joining the list “cofounded” the firm with her husband and her husband and son actually run the firm while she’s the interior decorator for one segment of the business.

  3. In Gina Reinhart’s case, she inherited a business and estate in big trouble and turned it into a huge success. She’s a bit of an odd duck, but has some real acumen.

  4. Bettencourt-Meyers: where she backs projects like French private hospital operator Elsan.

Elsan, definition: trademark, a type of portable lavatory in which chemicals are used to kill bacteria and deodorize the sludge.

    Great name for a hospital…

  5. IIRC, the accusation that most of the world’s richest people inherited their money only really holds true for women.

In the Top 20 richest men, the only two that inherited are the Walmart pair.

Of the Top 20 richest women, the only one that didn’t is some Chinese property billionairess (i.e CCP)
