No, no, it’s the *Republicans* who are the fascists, Hater!

Fascism is an autoimmune disease. Under the banner of patriotism it hates its nation and people and oversteps all civilized limits in its zeal to bring about fundamental change, whatever the damage.

Well, yes, now consider American political life. There’s one lot who are – roughly enough – stating that most things are or were recently about OK and perhaps we should concentrate on the occasional detail to possibly make them better.

There’s another lot rioting in the streets demanding that the entire system is rotten and that absolutely everything must change immediately because racial justice, saving Gaia, equity and the iniquity of the system.

Now, who is the autoimmune disease here? We’re sure it’s the Republicans, are we?

  1. Fascism is what happens when the normal people progressives are trying to impoverish and replace catch on to their schemes, and defend themselves via a strong man who won’t smirkingly complain that there’s nothing an elected government with a huge stonking majority can do about lefty “laws”.

  2. Thank God for the visionary, objective media in a country infested for many years by Trumpers. Violent, aggressive, domestic terrorists. I bet they long for the “mostly peaceful” civilised demonstrations by BLM supporters.
I well remember such a reporter, nonchalantly standing in front of a burning building, next to a burning car, assuring his viewers that the protests against the death of a drug addled violent criminal were “mostly peaceful”…

  3. “Under the banner of patriotism it hates its nation and people and oversteps all civilized limits in its zeal to bring about fundamental change, whatever the damage.”

A better, more concise, description of the current “Scottish Government” I’ve yet to see.

  4. “… because racial justice, saving Gaia, equity and the iniquity of the system.“

Which is Theocracy, run by zealots.

  5. Demanding control over others, insisting that the world changes as you demand it so, and getting frustrated, leading to rage, when the world refuses to comply, is textbook psychosis.

  6. There’s on side of the spectrum that repeatedly re-enacts Kristallnacht nowadays, and it ain’t the Republicans.
