I’ve no problem with this

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been called “f—ing grifters” by a Spotify boss after their reputed £15.5 million podcast deal was dropped after one series.

I’ve no problem with grifters. I do have a problem with people incompetent at it…..

  1. I’m sure the Markles have managed to make a few quid. Probably not enough for either of them of course.

I doubt these ‘mega deals’ with Spotify etc are as lucrative as made out. Unless these firms are run with UK public sector levels of stupidity, they will not throw all the cash out up front. For example, I doubt that Netflix has paid out umpteen millions to Phoebe Waller-Bridge for producing zero telly in the first year of her contract.

  2. Maybe grifter spotting before signing the contract should be a core competence for corporate bosses? Hasn’t he just given the Board a good reason to replace him?

Or alternatively he’s spotted a good opportunity to create some dead man’s shoes to fill by getting the guilty exec fired…

  4. “I’ve got to get drunk one night and tell the story of the Zoom I had with Harry to try and help him with a podcast idea. It’s one of my best stories. The grifters.”

Mr Simmons, who founded sports/pop culture website and podcast network The Ringer, has also previously reportedly said he is “so embarrassed” that he has to “share Spotify with him”.

He also said on a previous podcast episode in January: “Shoot this guy to the sun. I’m so tired of this guy. What does he bring to the table?

“He just whines about s— and keeps giving interviews. Who gives a s—? Who cares about your life? You weren’t even like the favourite son … Nobody cares.”

He added in the rant about the Duke on The Bill Simmons Podcast: “What does he do? What’s your talent? Why are we listening to you? So you were born into the Royal family and then you left. What are you good at?”

Archetypes was released weekly and ran for 12 episodes, each focused on the different labels and stereotypes levelled against women.

I don’t think “grifter” is fair as it implies they were deceiving people. They’re not smart enough for that.

  6. I’ve no problem with grifters.

The entire renewable energy sector is a bunch of grifters.

I do have a problem with fucking grifters.
