Not a breach of even Catholic Canon Law

The Church of England has appointed its first transgender Archdeacon in a move hailed by LGBT+ campaigners as “a beacon of light and hope”.

Revd Canon Dr Rachel Mann has been appointed Archdeacon of Bolton and Salford, and is now believed to be the most senior trans member of the clergy within the Church.

As blokes can be Archdeacons what’s the issue here?

  1. Not performing one’s offices under one’s christened and or ordained name is not a breach of something or other?

  2. Wonder when they’ll appoint a trans woman as boss of a nunnery.

    Or don’t they have nunneries any more?

  3. BB: There are still convents – see ‘Call the Midwife’, or hasn’t that gone Antipodean yet?

    I guess though that the trannies will find the convent harder to crack than the sports club ladies changing rooms.

    1) Shouldn’that be ‘a deacon of light and hope’?
    2) For someone who tries very hard to pretend otherwise, that’s an unfortunate surname.
    3) Unless he/she/they/xer/zer also identifies as a lesbian, which is problematic in itself, this could cause trouble in the future.

    I certainly hope the trannies’d find it harder than the ladies changing rooms of a sports club. Damifino what is the state of the play with the trannies here in Oz. I try to avoid reading about them as much as I can.

    The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman’s garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the Lord thy God

    I’m no theosopher or heirophant, but this one seems fairly easy to understand and obey. Like any good father, Our Lord is mainly telling us to STOP THAT.

  7. Is she post-op? If yes, then – according to legends – she could not become pope: After the elections, the pope-elect has to sit on a chair with a hole in it, and the cardinals have to inspect him and confirm “Testicolos habet et bene pedentes”. So she would fail this test..

  8. Male Archdeacons are allowed, female Archdeacons are allowed. The interesting case is when priests are in a relationship where one partner is trans, and they try to gain full married status. Is the Church going to say that you are whatever sex you choose? It does look like same sex marriage, which the Church is still forbidding.

    Hey brother, that’s just “thou shall not steal” put into more explicit words. Wear your own garments.
