A lesbian couple who launched a legal battle over inequalities in IVF treatment between heterosexual and same-sex couples have dropped their fight after their local care board pledged to make treatment costs equal.
Social media influencers Megan and Whitney Bacon-Evans launched a landmark “gay tax” discrimination case after NHS Frimley Integrated Care Board (ICB) said same-sex couples, single women and couples unable to have vaginal intercourse would have to pay for 12 rounds of IVF before qualifying for NHS assistance.
Heterosexual couples only needed to signal that they had been trying to conceive for two years before receiving help.
Sure, equal rights and all that. But refusing to actually put sperm into your own body via the correct orifice is always going to be a bit of a self-inflicted barrier to conception.
Quite why the rest of us have to pay for your own self-inflicted problem is a bit of a mystery. Borrow some from a buddy for a bit and if that doesn’t work then sure, equal rights. But at least make an effort first.
The solution is to ban the NHS.
Countries with it (UK, Malta, Cyprus recently(?)) are the fattest in Europe.
Even within the UK, territories that have more NHS (Scotland, Wales) with their free prescriptions are fatter.
The correlation isn’t perfect but it’ll do.
I understand our friend BiS has facilities down in Spain where the girls can get all the sperm they want for free.
Perhaps they should give that a try first. If it doesn’t work after two years, then they could go to the NHS for help.
Why do they need to have IVF (very expensive) rather than just plain vanilla AID (relatively cheap?)
Spiro: perhaps the lady has a semen phobia (with some long cod Latin/Greek name).
Urrgh! All those slimy wriggling things! Inside me!!! Gotta barf!
a landmark “gay tax”
What a good idea. We should use the revenues raised to cover the significant external costs LGBTQ has imposed on society.
A 500% tax on poppers, yappy little dogs and washing machine repairs effected by Jim.
I notice it’s Frimley NHS. It may help the couple to know that b&m in Camberley are selling turkey basters for a few quid, and there are loads of wankers in the council offices.

’Borrow some…’
Errr, someone was asleep in sex education class! You don’t get it back… 😉
I’ve never understood why IVF is available on the NHS for anybody. Not having kids isn’t a disease, it gives you far more disposable income and ~20% of women don’t have kids anyway. Why tax payers should pay for someone else’s genes to continue for another generation when nature has decided they shouldn’t is beyond me.
Indeed Boganboy. And lezzers can attract premium rates. However comfortable shoes are a definite no-no.

The old Sandi Toksvig special should do the trick. Afterwards you can enjoy a perfectly cooked Sunday lunch.
I think I’ve posted this before, but it’s relevant again….
I hope you’re sterilising it in between the insemination and Sunday Lunch.
A gay tax, what a great idea. Make sure it clobbers irritating cunts like Owen jones. A higher rate gay tax for super poofs like Elton John will fix a few pot holes too. Has Lineker given the odd hand job? He looks the type. Throw him in and I’m sold

I’d like to point out I have never met Keith Vaz………
@Arthur the Cat – “Why tax payers should pay for someone else’s genes to continue for another generation when nature has decided they shouldn’t is beyond me.”
Because the resulting children will grow up to generate the economic activity that pays for our pensions.

@Charles, but why bother with paying for IVF when we have so many budding doctors/nurses/engineers coming over in rubber dinghies from France?
Not sure why ‘single women’ would be unable to have vaginal intercourse..I know plenty of people who would be willing to help with that problem for free..
That she can’t even give it away should be sounding some alarm bells in even the most blue-balled blokes. Would you really want her surgically attached to your wallet for the next 18 years?
Sounds like it isn’t giving away sperm that’s the problem. It’s handing over an 18+ year annuity that comes attached to baby. That’s why they’re bitching about NHS services being unavailable.
BUT the whole point of being a PROGRESSIVE society in the 21st century is that no one should have to live with the consequences of their decisions!!
Far better to indulge yourself and have other people do what you want so that you can carry on your indulgence free and carefree…
So if the ladies do not want to have sex with a bloke or ask a bloke to crack one off into a cup for the turkey baster approach then how does the magic happen? What do the IVF docs do? Cut them open, grab a egg, fertilise it in a test tube and put it the womb?
Yes. Because that way they know it is reasonably viable before they reinsert it (since it should have started to segment after fertilisation).
This also allows them to assess whether the females eggs are the problem with infertility in normal IVF as opposed to lezza IVF.
@BlokeInBrum – “why bother with paying for IVF when we have so many budding doctors/nurses/engineers coming over in rubber dinghies from France?”
Because we are so stupid that we prevent such people from working and intend to deport them.
