And who defines that?

Second, in exchange for the tax relief, the funds saved should be used for social purposes. I have long suggested green bonds be issued to assist this.

Ah, yes, silly me. Social putposes is Spud gets to spend your money, isn’t it?

  1. Interesting definition of the word “saved”! I do not include the “funds” (money) I give/allocate to charities within the category “saved” but in “given” – Murphy defines “saved” for *other people* s including the money allocated/given to “social purposes” (as defined by Murphy): Lady Thatcher’s “Know-How” Fund was very definitely for social purposes (and very successfully – a senior guy from “The Autonomous Republic of Sakha” told me that they would like to appoint her as their President) but I wonder whether he would advocate that being one of the purposes included.

  2. It’s been a while so time to catch up on the success of Ritchie’s ideas…

The Fair Tax Mark (now Foundation) is 10.5 years old. 89 companies registered now, some have clearly given up on it. Stunning. (Trying to recall the business plan, 100 in year 1 and 500 by year 3?).

Progressive Pulse has long been one bloke talking to himself. The fall out with the funder, Peter Dawes, was very funny.

    Tax Research Wiki. Just laugh.

Finance for the Future – no posts since January, a vehicle to collect grants that can’t be given to individuals.

Corporate Accountability Network – no news since 2021. Surely not another vehicle to collect grants that can’t be given to individuals?

I guess if your business model is to grab as much cash as you can from left-leaning trusts and funds to save for your pension, he’s achieved that.

  3. Noel Scoper

I have a feeling Sustainable Cost accounting and the Green New Deal are of Course game changers and his latest research on Wealth tax is apparently being funded by someone

  4. @Noel

And when saving for his pension I doubt the wise professor has put his money in to a 1% green bond (if would like to then I will happily pay him 1% for his investment in this green bridge I have for sale)

  5. @NoelScoper,

The Fair Tax Mark – he fell out with them a while back, can’t remember why.

Finance for the Future and Corporate Accountability Network are sham LLP’s which get grants from charities which don’t fund individuals. Murphy gets £42k a year from the former (60% of a £70k grant, the rest goes to Colin Hines) and £17k a year from the latter.

Plus he gets money from Sheffield University, book royalties, fees for newspaper articles, etc. But that’s not enough so he appeals for donations on his blog.

    @Boddicker,

I wonder if he has put all his pension and savings in 1% bonds. It would explain the hustling!

  6. Marvellous to see the excellent Noel Scoper on the chat after so long.

I looked at the accredited organisations on Fair Tax Mark and one made me go aw bless
“Based in Essex, ROO is a husband and wife-run business selling takeaway coffee and food from a standing van” I remember when I was a lad and would have been happy to have the price of a cup of tea. Which they don’t sell based on their web-site.

And then there is Vattenfall “one of Europe’s largest producers and retailers of electricity and heat, with significant markets in Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, UK” who are in the news ‘cos they can’t make any profit from renewables so have pulled out of bidding.

I do wonder if I could fast forward 25 years if coffee will be the new demon. It’s schit coloured, just a liquid caffeine hit, it doesn’t come from Yorkshire, or go well with cake, promoted by ponces, has no energy or other nutrients, requires lots of land in low income countries and a lot of energy to make it.
But Ritchie drinks it so it must be ok.

  7. I understand the blasphemous Vattenfall actually run some nuclear reactors!!!

Surely Murph would scream for their crucifixion?

  8. He recently retitled his blog “Funding The Future”. Quite why he can’t be honest and call it “Funding My Future” is a mystery.
