The US Department of Justice (DOJ) has said it is suing Elon Musk’s SpaceX, alleging the rocket firm discriminates against refugees and asylum seekers in its hiring practices.
The DoJ says SpaceX falsely claimed that it was not allowed to hire non-US citizens.
The investigation into SpaceX by the DoJ was prompted after allegations of discrimination from a foreign worker.
Whatever did happen to freedom of contract?
How weird. Shirley anyone working on something as sensitive as SpaceX needs security vetting ? Bit tricky if some geezer from Bongobongoland turns up without any papers and tells them that he’s a gyroscope spinner’s assistant.
“Hire illegal immigrants! Or else! Remember, we rely on them voting for us!”
My guess is that the laws and regulations around this are a complete mess and contradictory and they could have used them to go after Musk no matter what he did.
I also note its the the DoJ and not the Dept of Labor (sic), adding to the thought that this is political and the plight of immigrants is the excuse and not the reason.
Here it is
SpaceX and other rocket companies have for years asserted that its hiring practices were dictated by the International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR) law, which regulates the export of regulated technologies, such as rocket parts. An “export” is deemed to have occurred if technology is disclosed to a foreigner, even in the U.S.
So the choice is to go to gaol or get sued. Biden’s USA neatly summed up.
Trump is a target, now Elon is too. Wonder who they both pi**ed off?
“They’re aliens, Jim, but not as we know them”.
Jonathan
George Soros.
Musk went after Soros backed NGOs on Wednesday. A lot of DAs in the US are also Soros funded.
It’s continuing its descent into a banana republic.
Their problem is lawyers, generally on a par with estate agents, KFs and murderers. As a standard route into the business world, lawyers over there are everywhere.
I started to get interested in US politics when I realised how many people ensured a nasty, creepy, senile old git on his last legs got elected by nefarious means. I remember after Bliar and Mandy’s cabal got elected, I thought “We’re all socialists now”.
Looney lefty ideas seem to be strangely attractive to the meeja and many other organisations and everything that happens across the pond eventually end up past the U bend here.
So after Sir Kneel of the flip-flop gets in the fecal matter will hit the rotors at light speed.
Forewarned is…
Whatever did happen to freedom of contract?
Freedom of association is a white man idea.
Btw, they’re going after Musk because they’ve put an incredible amount of work into censoring the internet since 2016, and view him as a threat to that.
Idk if people realise just how much the internet has been fucked with. Algorithms that used to be there to provide better search results or promote organically popular trending posts on social media are now used to hide search results and limit your ability to reach an audience.
There certainly won’t be any more Donald Trumps allowed to use social media as a means of causing difficulties for the regime.

We dealt with this in a previous thread. The “educated” have come to occupy the positions of power because the playing field’s tilted to favour the “educated”. And their subjects are not the only things they get educated in. The left’s long established its power in the education system, so education is a left perspective education. And we’ve got to the point where the loop is virtually closed. Doesn’t mean there aren’t any smart people left. But their route to any sort of influence is thoroughly blocked.
That’s why, in my opinion, the only possible solution is to bring down the university system. There’s certainly not the slightest chance of purging it. We probably do need the Big Economic Collapse. Because it will favour true competition. And the smart always prosper in times of dislocation. It’s easy to succeed in times of rising prosperity. Much harder to do so in falling but the rewards for those can do so are relatively greater. And it’s those sort of people that are needed.
‘We probably do need the Big Economic Collapse.’
Well BiS, the climate nonsense looks as though it’ll put us there.
I’d naturally prefer to miss it. But people don’t seem capable of just leaving well-enough alone.
They do seem to be forging the means of their own demise. But what else can you expect from the “educated”? At the moment, probably better to leave them to get on with it.

More and more. I used to be able to use “remember/re-google” to find something that I had I read before. That can often now be tortuous, even with unambiguous search words. Increasingly I C&P particular links that might be useful again.
I did a brief comparison not that long ago, comparing yandex with google, specifically for something “slightly controversial”. It was interesting…

Putting aside whether that solution would work, what’s your solution to achieving it? How would the university sytem be brought down? How do we get there from here?
Musk has been got at – evidenced by the WEF woman now running X. Also, some peeps estimate he has six or seven weeks left before he burns through his line of credit for X.
As an aside:

Well I can’t see why education isn’t a marketable commodity, like any other. It’s actually how the current university system came into being. People who wanted to know things gathered where there were people who knew things to learn. Problem is the current system is the last vestiges of the Medieval guilds. Tradition & hierarchies have more importance than what it does.
It wouldn’t be hard to out-compete. Let’s be honest, if you wanted to learn theoretical physics, all you need’s a room, some chairs & a couple of competent theoretical physicists. You don’t need the medieval architecture, fat political refugees as Chancellor or a fucking boat club.
So really you just need to discredit the current system. And the incumbents seem to have that project competently in hand.
PF – crazy to think that Google broke Search, but that’s exactly what has happened. It’s a lot harder to find stuff on the internet than it was 10 years ago.
The Pajeetification and Wokification of Silicon Valley is probably as much to blame as malice tho. Google used to only hire certified geniuses, now they’re full of weird perverts and Subcontinental incompetence.
Steve,

Maybe.. Though if you’re an IT and say have to deal with this latest example from the Reich:
https://dailysceptic.org/2023/08/25/the-digital-services-act-will-give-the-eu-sweeping-new-censorship-powers-forcing-x-and-facebook-to-remove-content-that-challenges-mass-migration-transgender-ideology-or-net-zero/
… you’ve got to be pretty determined to proactively go up against it all. At which point, separate systems in different countries? Might just be easier/cheaper to align everything with the lowest common denominator?
Otto – thanks.

The Civil Rights Act.
Canada says Facebook has to pay to have links/excerpts from news providers, Facebook followed through on removing content as they said they would if the law was passed, then Trudeau starts complaining that Facebook didn’t have information on wildfires when it was all his fault in the first place
