Oh Good

Rishi Sunak faces up to 10 ministers quitting if he adopts a hardline approach on Rwanda and uses emergency legislation to circumvent the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR).

The MPs – identified on a list being circulated by party whips – are largely from the One Nation group of more than 100 centrist Conservatives, who issued a warning on Tuesday that “overriding” the convention would be a “red line”.

People who shouldn’t be in the Tory Party threaten to leave the Tory Party.

You have seen my worried face, haven’t you?

Frankly I would vote against it. The whol idea is ridiculous, when we have plenty of more suutable British territories : West Falkland, Ascendion Island, Rockall…

I would use South Georgia rather than the Falklands. The penguins there provide an unlimited supply of food, so we wouldn’t need to bother with supply ships. Not sure if there are enough puffins on Rockall to supply that one.

Sounds like Rishi’s found the perfect way to ensure he’s re-elected.

Must admit if I was a Brit, the thing that’d guarantee him my vote would be his sinking the boot into the ECHR. I’d dump every last bit of that crap.

Can they not fish off Rock all? Give them a couple of rods and leave them to it.

A third of the Conservative Party aren’t actually Conservatives? Why doesn’t Advertising Standards apply to political party members?

From Guido:

So it’s official. In the back of the new Rwanda treaty, under “Other Agreements”, is this:

“The Parties shall make arrangements for the United Kingdom to resettle a portion of Rwanda’s most vulnerable refugees in the United Kingdom, recognising both Parties’ commitment towards providing better international protection for refugees“

Note that there are no specified numbers. Meanwhile “all transfer requests by the United Kingdom shall require approval by Rwanda prior to any relocation” – so Rwanda gets to decide which asylum seekers it wants to take. No wonder we haven’t had to cough up extra cash…

Do not forget that these people want you broke, dead, your kids raped and brainwashed, and they think it’s funny.

Climate’s a funny thing:
South Georgia is on the same latitude as Newcastle, apart from the minus sign, yet one is cold and inhospitable and the other has a marvellous climate.

Reading about the thrashing about of the dying conservative government reminds me of the death throes of the Major , Heath and Macmillan eras. The big problem for the UK is of course, that the alternative lot are no better and are arguably even worse. One can hope that Reform make some sort of impact at the next election but I will not be holding my breath.
Here in New Zealand, we have just manged to get rid of one lot of idiots, it remains to be seen how much of a mess the new lot manage to make.
Looking at the world wide picture it seems that there is a real pandemic in full swing, it mostly affects the governing classes of all western countries. I believe there is not yet a vaccine against the rampant stupidity which affects most of them.

You have a good point johnd.

At least here in Oz the failure of the Voice seems to have given the Liberals a trifle more of an incentive to pursue policies that I’d like. Though if they keep on sidling left, I’ll have to consider voting for Pauline.

@Boganboy

Pauline’s satire vids on The Voice and more were terrific and I’m sure increased No vote
