Dunno why they’re doing this but it’s still fun

Prince Harry’s memoir is not “proof” he took drugs and could have been embellished to “sell books”, a lawyer for the Biden administration argued on Friday.

‌It came as a DC court began hearing a case on whether to compel the US government to release Duke of Sussex’s visa application stemming from revelations about his illegal drug use.

The Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank, has for months been challenging the Department for Homeland Security (DHS), arguing the documents should be made public as a result of confessions he made in his bestselling memoir Spare.

They contend that the Duke’s past drug use should have disqualified him from entering the United States under federal law and that releasing his application is of “immense public interest”.

Quite why Heritage has decided to pursue this I’ve no idea. But it is fun.

Still, of course a celebrity memoir is not proof. You seen some of the shit people say in those things?

  1. If the book is not wholly true as far as rhe author knows, but is presented by the author as non-fiction, then a criminal charge of fraud is a warranted. “Just saying”, to quote a famous person

  2. I’d suppose Heritage are simply after the publicity.

Or it’s just some top-tier trolling from people with deep pockets.

Imagine though if he is deported: the laughter would reverberate around the world louder than Krakatoa!

  3. Regardless of anyone’s thoughts about the artist formerly known as prince, what a crappy thing to do by the heritage centre.

It’s because he’s married to a black woman.

    You’re welcome.

  5. There’s a little support in Russia for the restoration of a monarchy, to a constitutional position this time of course. And there is previous for Kings not speaking the local language much.
Harry and Meghan: call yourselves the Nytyeviches and perestroika yourselves over there.

There´s your answer. Top influential people & drugs. How many people make the same connection? No harm keeping that little story firmly in the public mind. And nice to know someone on the right understands the merits of playing dirty. Well done Heritage!

  7. I’m torn between Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals #s 4 & 5. Both work rather well in this instance:-

    4. “Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.”
    5. “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon. There is no defense. It is almost impossible to counterattack ridicule. Also it infuriates the opposition, who then react to your advantage.”

  8. Once upon a time there was a young man who claimed that he lied in his diary. To have claimed otherwise would have implicated the Clintons in some skullduggery. Although there is some less chance of a fatal outcome here.
