I seriously doubt it

Sexist language is increasing in schools as more boys are exposed to misogynistic online content, a study has suggested.

Research commissioned by Vodafone found 70 per cent of teachers have seen a rise in sexist language in the classroom over the last year, while 69 per cent of boys have encountered posts promoting misogyny.

The study, commissioned to mark Safer Internet Day, warned that AI-powered algorithms pushing content to boys online was a key part of the problem. The research indicated that hateful content was often being seen when users were searching for other innocent material, such as fitness or gaming content.

I suspect, rather, a change in what is considered sexist oe hateful.

So hateful content is innocent material? Editor!!!!!

  2. The research also found that 42 per cent of parents had heard their sons make inappropriate comments because of what they have seen online, including comments that were sexual, violent or degrading about women and girls.

“Because of what they have seen online”.

Really? Have 42% of parents genuinely been told this by their offspring? Isn’t it far more likely they have been repeating rap lyrics where references to bitches and hos are legion.

  3. Got it in one Tim

So for me anyone clicking on an article by Owen Jones, Nesrine Malik or Richard Murphy (to name but three) is taking in ‘hateful content’- all Hamas sympathisers so openly anti- semitic combined even in Murphy’s case with a deep hatred of Whites, Heterosexuals, Men and anyone vaguely patriotic. I’d actually agree there’s been a rise in ‘hateful content’ – that’s because the Hard Left and its various offshoots want to kill their opponents – doesn’t get much more hateful than that.

  4. More likely 42% of boys have been listening to their parents having conversation / banter in a way which was considered completely normal just a few years ago, yet now is regarded as mortal sin by the snowflake brigade.

  5. “warned that AI-powered algorithms “

I see the midwits have seized on the latest term du jour. Everything is going to be blamed on “AI” for the next few years.

AI-powered Brexit is going to be particularly powerful!

  7. ‘Yeah search for “gardening tools” or “Lassie” and all you get are hoes and bitches.’

    Thank you Otto.

What a difference a comma (or lack of) makes. Of course, we’re told that grammar doesn’t matter any more: people always manage to make themselves clear.
