Viagra may help to lower the risk of Alzheimer’s disease, study finds
Research by UCL, which examined medical records of 260,000 men with erectile dysfunction, has provided ‘food for thought’
So we’re more likely to remember why we’ve got a stiffie then?
Is there causation, or correlation, and which way does the correlation run? Could it be that men who end up with ertile disfunction and follow that up with treatment are also men who happen not to develop dementia? It could be “people who chose to buy a house with a lawn more likely to also have a mortgage, ergo having a lawn causes you to have a mortgage”.
I suppose the results, as ever with UCL, depend on who is “funding” the “research”…
To summarise this study – ‘try hard to not forget’.
«men who end up with ertile disfunction»
Cutting out the middle man?
Wow! A relative risk reported alongside a Trojan number from a retrospective unmatched study with “adjustment” for confounders?
Call me shocked!
“Goodness, no, doctor! He’s ninety-four and hasn’t been interested in it for years. But the viagra does stop him from rolling out of bed…”
I see they’ve thought long and hard about this.
Empirical proof that men only ever have one thing on their mind.
Men who take viagra are more likely to have wives. Wives keep them on their toes or cover up for their decline.
There’s your confounder, BiFR
Men who take viagra are more likely to have wives. Wives keep them on their toes or cover up for their decline.
There’s a lot of truth in that statement. I listened to a program on PTSD with one of the country’s top doctors and he said it can come on at anytime. He cited the case of one of his patients. WW2 RAF pilot who started having a terrible time in his ’80s. It turned out his wife had recently died and she recognised that he had mental health problems and used to keep him very busy and it wasn’t until he had a bit of time and space that it became a problem.
If they’re wrong then you’ve got hordes of senile men wandering the streets with a new purpose in life.
I see they’ve thought long and hard about this.
Some have for sure, but it depends entirely on the length of the individual researcher’s attention span.
