Wish more people said the right thing to Call Me Dave

Lord Cameron has warned the US Congress not to repeat the mistakes of the 1930s by blocking a multi-billion pound aid package for Ukraine.

The Foreign Secretary said the West must not “show the weakness displayed against Hitler”, in an unusually blunt intervention into American politics.

In an article for The Hill, an influential Washington newspaper read by Capitol Hill policymakers and insiders, he said approving the support for Kyiv was “a matter of global security”.

But his overtures were immediately rejected by a Donald Trump-supporting Republican who on Wednesday told him to “kiss my a–”.

  1. The US could quite reasonably reply that proportionally they have already contributed far more than we have 🙁

The sheer arrogance and tone deafness of our ruling classes will wreck something that frankly is doing us a massive favour: the more the Ukrainians bleed the Russians dry, the more time we have to prepare, and bluntly the costs are low. For us, at least 🙁

  2. It’s hard to think of any time in history that gets the same treatment as the 1930s i.e. only hindsight is allowed and the facts get twisted or suppressed anyway.

Consequently when an ass like Baron Chipolata opines, he’s bound to reach for the 30s. He probably doesn’t know much about any other decade anyway.

♫ Hitler Time is here again
It’s time to sell some fear again
Happy days will soon be here again
When you’re on the Eastern Front ♫

Most of the globe strongly disagrees.

Lord Cameron wrote his article as he embarked on a three-day tour of EU nations on Wednesday to drum up extra financial and military backing for Ukraine.

Why is the Foreign Secretary of the British government lobbying America and Europe for more war in Europe? Do you remember voting for war?

Lord Cameron’s article will be seen as a direct challenge to supporters of Mr Trump, who are holding up the package for domestic reasons

Those “domestic reasons” are the ongoing invasion crisis in the United States, which is in the process of being overrun and conquered by the largest movement of people in human history.

The Biden regime could unlock as much funny money for Ukraine as it wants, if they were willing to defend the US border. But it’s more important to keep the spiked golf shoes on the neck of the indigines than it is to keep funding a luxury war of choice in Eastern Europe.

Luxury wars: in most countries, war isn’t considered to be a great laugh. For most Blokes in the world, war doesn’t mean Commando Comics, Dame Vera Lynn or spicy Putin Monke memes on Twitter. War means there’s a good chance your daughter and wife will be raped by the same guys who shot your son and burned down your house.

Ukraine is a luxury war from the British perspective. Our politicians feel completely safe in prolonging, escalating, and internationalising the deadliest war in European history since 1945. In fact, talking ’bout Hitler is the Acme of the Luxury War of Choice. The Collective West has been defeating the latest Hitler-of-the-week since the end of the Cold War. We should rename the Ministry of Defence to the Ministry of Stopping Hitlers.

“I do not want us to show the weakness displayed against Hitler in the 1930s. He came back for more, costing us far more lives to stop his aggression.”

Implicit in the Hitler talk is the unspoken claim that the Hitler-talker is a latter day Winston Churchill.

Aren’t we lucky that all of our politicians are Winston Churchill, and all of their international enemies are Hitler?

  4. CMD’s recall has obviously convinced him that the the arrogance, complacency and stupidity shown during his first incarnation are exactly what is required of him in his second (and, one fervently hopes, his last).

  5. The war business is very profitable! Screw that up and never mind the country club, forget about ever being asked to dinner again!
