Humza Yousaf has suggested that racist graffiti targeting him near his family home shows the need for his controversial hate crime laws.
The Scottish First Minister took to social media to highlight slurs relating to his Pakistani heritage and Muslim religion that were sprayed on walls in Broughty Ferry.
Mr Yousaf said it had become “increasingly difficult” to shield his two children “from the racism and Islamophobia I face on a regular basis”.
Although offences involving stirring up racial hatred have existed since 1986, he suggested the graffiti helped make the case for his new hate crime laws, saying it was “a reminder of why we must, collectively, take a zero-tolerance approach to hatred”.
The idea that we mustn’t say hurty things about the feckin’ bawbags who take 50% of our money off us is rather un-British, no?
In fact it’s getting rather French here – they say hurty things about me so the state must crack down – l’etat c’est moi, no?
’Humza Yousaf has suggested that racist graffiti targeting him near his family home shows the need for his controversial hate crime laws.’
Graffiti wasn’t illegal before?
Austrian joke
Elderly couple walking down the road. They come to a wall which has a huge graffito on it
“Auslaender Raus !”
The old boy is horrified and waves his stick at the wall. “Look at this ‘Foreigners Out!’ It’s a disgrace. What is this country coming to ? Dreadful.
It’d never happened under Hitler !”
Is it islamophobia (ie knowing more about the mohammedans than they like), or just because Abu Humza Useless is a cunt?
Yousaf, who was justice secretary at the time, told MSPs that the country had to “accept the reality and the evidence that is in front of us, that Scotland has a problem of structural racism”.
He added “in 99% of their meetings I go to, I am the only non-white person in the room”.
Thankfully, STV made it clear that “The speech did not assert that white people make up too large a proportion of Scotland’s overall population.”
So, if the graffiti had a similar clarification printed underneath, he would have known it was perfectly innocent graffiti…
I’d play the violin for him if I just could remember where I stashed my looking glass..
’ He added “in 99% of their meetings I go to, I am the only non-white person in the room”.’
If that’s so upsetting, might I suggest he finds a country that suits him better, like Gaza?
If it’s the “wall painting” that the BBC featured on its website, unless “Islam” can be classified as a race, it’s not “racist” as far as I can see.
@BiS: I have the same lack of regard for Sunak as I do for Youseless, and he’s not even a Muslim.
Being un-British is becoming increasingly British, isn’t it?
The question is, of course, whether being un-British now defines being being British?
Oh I am so glad I fucked off.
If it’s the “wall painting” that the BBC featured on its website, unless “Islam” can be classified as a race, it’s not “racist” as far as I can see.
They’re desperate to get it classified as racist, not least because of anti Semitism is classed as racism, and they’re having so much trouble getting blasphemy laws passed. Although the latest laws in Scotland are fairly close.
Chap living in country that is 99% white complains that country is 99% white. Moron.
Y’know, when I was living in Hong Kong, 99% of the places I went I was the only white person! Amazing!
If his feelings are hurt by a bit of banter, then wait ’til he hears what his fellow Muslims do to English girls – he’ll be absolutely outraged!
Man who publicly called for “white people” to lose their jobs for being white is surprised that white people don’t like him or his lovely religion.
He’s not surprised, Steve. This is one of those vanishingly rare cases in which he knows what he’s doing.
How terribly British to have two brown and one black chief ministers. The Empire has a lot to answer for…
Maybe if the Scottish government (at any level) dealt with graffiti in a timely and appropriate manner it wouldn’t be such an issue, the BBC picture it didn’t look that new
Would it also be a hate crime to tell him people are thinking it even if they aren’t saying it, would a poll that says he is useless be a hate crime?
