She should be careful what she wishes for, as we know once the principle is set politics love to use fiscal drag to bring ever more people in to a tax bracket.
NPR cannot change itself (and has no desire to), if it can be changed is only from outside. Which requires outside pressure, i.e. lots and lots of bad publicity.
You pick the tactic that has a chance of working.
If he had aired his grievances internally, he would also have been forced out, but no one would have noticed or cared.

Dan Kennedy of Northeastern University eloquently critiqued Berliner’s complaints about “Russiagate”, Hunter Biden’s laptop and the origins of the Covid pandemic.
And Katherine Maher’s decision to suspend Berliner for five days without pay for merely expressing an opinion on a matter of public interest was definitive proof of NPR’s commitment to constructive criticism wasn’t it? Unfortunately, it was a negative proof, but a proof all the same.
