MEPs’ lack of racial diversity has caused EU identity crisis, campaigners say
Parliament’s failure to reflect the bloc’s diverse population could worsen with European elections
Apparently Europe being ruled by Europeans is a problem now.

Weird gods peeps have chosen for the 21st century. Diversity aka wankers charter…
Africa for the Africans!
Europe for the Africans!
Few things are less likely than racial homogeneity causing an identity crisis within a given population and then the tell-tale explanatory words: “…campaigners say”.
The name of the campaigning journalist who wrote this? Ashifa Kassam, European community affairs correspondent.
How is that odd? They’ve been setting the scene for the dispossession of white peoples since Enoch Powell’s time.
Brexit obviously.
This OT link: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/us/news/2024/05/30/man-driving-without-licence-joins-court-call-from-car/ is submitted totally without comment.
This is one of the few things that can be attributed directly to Brexit. The UK supplied as number of diverse MEPS offsetting the largely pale MEPs from elsewhere. No UK MEPS no diversity.
“Apparently Europe being ruled by Europeans is a problem now”
In a few years there won’t be any “Europeans” left, so the problem will resolve itself…
My usual Stalin quote Dave.
‘That tells the truth all too plainly.’
In a few years there won’t be any “Europeans” left, so the problem will resolve itself…
Yeah OK . Great for a bit of dramatic rhetoric but it doesn’t reflect reality. Reality is much worse. “Europeans” will still be the vast majority in their nations for the foreseeable future. The question will be how will majority opinion change regarding growing minorities? Will the current tolerance continue? There’s lessons from the past on what happens if it doesn’t.
This article in the Torygraph touches on the subject. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/05/30/europes-fascist-future-awaits-if-putin-wins-in-ukraine/
Of course, what it doesn’t mention is parties like AfD & others on the liberal right have been branded as “fascist” for decades. Totally devaluing the word fascist. So is it a surprise that some people have been looking back at actual fascism with increasing affection? And how does the EU preference for technocratic government with weak democratic accountability differ from fascism?
Of course the article’s nothing to do with enhancing democracy in the European Parliament. It’s about fixing the representation to produce outcomes the writer favours. Somewhat fascist, no?
Colour me surprised, but it’s amazingly difficult to find figures on the ethnic demographics of the EU. Everything defines “ethnicity” as nationality, so it’ll say “20% are Germans”, and “ethnic minories” includes things like Catalans, Ruthenians, Silesians.
However, digging and digging finds that 6% of EU residents are foreigners, of which half are African or Asia, so 3% non-white. So, Mr EU, HOW FUCKING DIVERSE DO YOU EXPECT MEPS TO ACTUALLY BE??????
Digging further finds that 5% of MEPs come from somewhere called “colour”, so these people are *OVER*represented.
In a few years there won’t be any “Europeans” left,
The same source also says:
“On current trends European populations will become more ethnically diverse, with the possibility that today’s majority ethnic groups will no longer comprise a numerical majority in some countries. link
I once helped out the local Tories by checking the claimed educational qualifications of a person who had applied to be the local candidate for MP. (It fell to me because I was the one who had, on request, glanced at that part of his/her application and said that I smelled a rat.) It proved to contain two lies.
No matter: he/she went on to become an MEP for a seat elsewhere thereby increasing racial diversity in the EU’s pretendy parliament.
My wife once mentioned this story to a local Labour activist who said “Ooh we get just the same problems; the people who put themselves forward to be candidates are awful, aren’t they?”
““On current trends European populations will become more ethnically diverse, with the possibility that today’s majority ethnic groups will no longer comprise a numerical majority in some countries”
Well yeah. If the current majority demographics continue to support their governments’ policies. It’s certainly not a given can be assumed. A whole other future is entirely possible.
I guess it depends on where one hangs out, but I know nowhere in Europe that is 97% white. Non white demographic of around, usually a bit more than, 50%, is my typical experience, tho well aware my hangouts are perhaps not typical.
But 97% does really suggest a lot of white Europeans don’t get out much. Which on new years eve in German cities has been most definitely the case…
Bloke in Germany in Portugal
I believe Scotland is c 96% “white” including 92% “white UK”
I suspect there is a strong element of “countryside is racist” impacting the yawning chasm between perception and reality.
This is the same problem as the BBC thinking the rest of country looks like London. Europe doesn’t look like the respective capital cities, especially Brussels.

I was very surprised at this:
– 60% of 18-44 year olds agree would like “a strong leader who does not have to bother with Parliament or election”
– about 45% of the same age group believe “putting the army in charge is a good way to run the country”
See page 21 here – seems to be a Europe-wide survey – http://www.ukonward.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/kids-arent-alright-democracy.pdf
Not particularly surprised that such ideas exist, but that support for the is so high.
In both cases it seems support for ‘strong man’ or military government was low for all age groups in the early 21st century, then jumped up for all age groups at what seems to be around the time of the pandemic panic. It then fell back again for older age groups, but stayed high for the younger ones.
And this isn’t just the 18-25s, who perhaps didn’t have much personal experience of government before the lockdowns; the figures are pretty similar for 18-25, 25-35 and 35-45.
Cultures are so weird. Chinese and possibly Latins even Ahmadiyya aren’t interested in politics. Business, food, Louis Vuitton and “how much” seem to be important.
For Sunni Islam the culture seems to be get in to politics if you can and get yourself and your cousins in charge lads.
No idea why this should be, but Sunni Libertarianism must have a voter base no higher than 1.
