Our next Chancellor

Rachel Reeves, the shadow chancellor, has said she is in favour of councils having the power to cap rents.

The measure would mean local authorities could prevent landlords from raising rents above a set proportion every year.

A similar policy introduced in Scotland by Nicola Sturgeon drove landlords out of the market, reduced the supply of housing and forced up rents.

So, our next Chancellor is a complete economic loon. Aren’t we the lucky ones?

  1. So have our past chacellors been.

Gordon Brown had an article in the Telegraph extolling the virtues and all encompassing wisdom of WHO and how anyone resisting their pandemic plan is a conspiracy theorist.

    Twat.

  2. They’re really going to destruct-test the whole socialist-lite state interference thing, aren’t they?

It’s going to get awfully messy.

That’s pretty useful actually. It’s well known that if that cunt gordon brown is in favour of something, then it’s going to be exactly the wrong thing to do. So his article should clear up quite a few lingering doubts.

  4. Hmmm. Should I be getting out now, or getting equity release to run out the capital?

My biggest problem at the moment is tracking down tradesmen who are sufficiently arsed to want to do the repair work I want to pay them to fo.

  5. As and when Labour get in I give her six months max as Chancellor. She comes across as completely Kinnock-era tribal, and comparing her utterances with her academic background just doesn”t compute.

  6. I’m in favour of this policy – the more powers devolved to local authorities the better, apart from common defence, equal treatment under the law and free movement.
Local authorities and their cousins the Housing Associations are the biggest landlords in each patch. They will pay a price for being dumb, but they should be permitted to and thence the voters to chuck them out.

  8. Any thoughts on how long Starmer will last after Labour victory before he’s deposed and replaced by Rayner

  9. @BniC

Staarmer will be a puppet leader, same as Biden, Sunak. Same puppet masters: China and WEF

  10. Bloke in Germany

And you think this is just government?

    Conversation overheard in airport:
A: Do you have to be a complete economic idiot to work for our company?
B: No, it’s sufficient to be just a complete idiot.
