Thirdly, Farage would have nothing like the power he has unless the BBC thought it necessary, in the interest of so-called balance, to so frequently platform far-right parties and organisations in this country.
The current betting is that these “far-rights” will gain some 12% or more of the vote. Why shouldn’t such views gain media representation?
“Farage would have nothing like the power he has unless the BBC thought it necessary, in the interest of so-called balance, to so frequently platform far-right parties and organisations in this country.”
The BBC only think it is necessary because they are running scared. Even they have to recognise that a constant diet of Europhiliac, trans, gay, sourpuss feminist, and ethnic gaslighting is not going down well with the general public. Balance will be restored as a result of license fees declining.
Just curious, but do they ever label anyone or anything as “far left”?
But it’s obviously all right for the BBC to “platform” far left authoritarian nutjobs like Spud.
Farage was “platformed” on Today this morning. Mishal Husain talked over Farage but held his ground well. Worth a listen…
The BBC hate Farage. My brother spent about five minutes trying to find the well buried story that Farage was standing on their site. He said most of it was insulting.
Really hoping he gets to debate Sunak and Starmer. I doubt they’ve got the bottle though.
From the great potato’s post…
In the process, he sustains his overinflated ego by securing media appearances that to his supporters, at least, provide evidence of his significance.
Is he looking in the mirror?
The BBC are indeed liberal with the term. If you google , the BBC do provide a lot of far right country profiles and many more search results before you get to the image returns, when compared to a google of
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/3672670.stm
This did make me laugh – from 2004: “Many are worried the results in eastern Germany will give the country a bad name”
A certain Bon Jovi song springs to mind.
Drat, triangular brackets don’t work. “far right” site://news.bbc.co.uk ” far left” site://news.bbc.co.uk> were meant to show.
Searching for the term “far left” on the BBC site brings in quite a lot of results, but all of them for overseas. Apparently the term can’t apply to anything in the UK. Not Owen Jones, not Corbyn, not Galloway, not any union leader, not even “literal communist” Ash Sarkar, although there are several entries for her.
The BBC only think it is necessary because they are running scared… Balance will be restored as a result of license fees declining.
I wouldn’t count on that. Irrespective of most of the BBC people being left of centre, the Corporation got an interest in a Labour victory because that virtually guarantees the continued existence of the BBC. The BBC will regard Farage & Reform as a threat to itself.
Nigel Farage’s announcement that he is to stand as the Reform Party candidate for Clacton-on-Sea and simultaneously become the leader of that party, replacing Richard Tice in that role, is symbolic of so much that is wrong with politics in the UK.
Firstly, Reform is a private limited company controlled by Farage, and unaccountable as a consequence.
Unlike XR and IB for example who have been elected on numerous occasions
Secondly, press reports suggest that the company is 80% funded by Richard Tice, indicating the extreme power that wealth has to influence outcomes in UK general elections.
Even wealth controlled by the state?
Thirdly, Farage would have nothing like the power he has unless the BBC thought it necessary, in the interest of so-called balance, to so frequently platform far-right parties and organisations in this country.
He’s frequently the only counterweight to four or five Ultra Left wing parties. To be clear, due to their policies on COVID, Net Zero, DIE and Trans I’d classify all the following organizations as ultra Left wing – The greens, Labour, Libdems, SNP, Sinn Fein, Plaid Cymru and the Conservatives .
Fourthly, the bias within the BBC itself is exposed when a party with both more MPs and vastly more councillors than Reform is largely ignored by it. I am, of course, referring to the Green Party.
A party which is almost entirely composed of students and those in the public sector- so 100% state funded and unaccountable to anyone. Also running on a platform of open genocide through its support of Net Zero.
Fifthly, the best election result in Clacton will be that Farage suffers his eighth election defeat, thwarting once again his ambition to be an MP. However, he has chosen his seat with care. This is where Douglas Carswell did, briefly, enjoy success as a UKIP candidate. It also typifies quite a number of areas of deprivation in East Anglia and Lincolnshire where it seems as though far-right led sentiment about migration provides Reform with an opportunity to generate support.
Of course those pesky Whites need to just shut up and die.
Put all this together, and Farage appears to be little more than a manipulative exploiter of those willing to provide him with patronage in pursuit of his political goals that are intended to create and exploit division in this country. In the process, he sustains his overinflated ego by securing media appearances that to his supporters, at least, provide evidence of his significance.
Says the man who wants to steal everyones savings and pensions and who suggests he should control who has access to a smartphone
To the rest of us, Farage’s presence in this election makes it clear that populists are more prevalent in this country than is good for the well-being of a great many people with it.
Yes – I do love it when politicians have no regard for the people they are ruling.
Additionally, media support for Farage – including the blatant support of Farage by GB News that Ofcom has been ignoring – indicates just how readily our media create a far-right agenda for this country which the BBC far too obediently replicates in its programming.
As opposed to Murphy’s vision which would involve anyone who disagrees with him being deplatformed
Add these factors together, and it is clear that we have a political system that is far from fit for purpose.
That said, the greatest worry is that Labour appear to have no concerns about this, or intentions to make any change.
Troublingly, as it stands, it would seem that things can only get worse
We could always adopt Murphy’s policies – whosoever is in search ruin , let him with assuredness follow that man. He or noone is on the road to it.
Think of it on BBC timescales not electoral. The ideal outcome for the BBC is a Labour government with a still existant Tory party opposition & Reform gaining few or no seats. The status quo. A strong showing by Reform could destroy the Tory party. And next election could return a populist government would abolish the BBC. BBC will do anything to save itself. If it’s flagrantly biased, gets 5 or 10 million complaints & severely chastised by OFCOM it doesn’t matter. None of that will actually happen until after the election’s won. It’ll still be in the long grass. After the election it has the government it wants will cover it’s back.
Of course being spud he hasn’t heard of The Conservative Party Foundation Ltd co no. 05289086 , Labour Party Nominees Ltd, the Liberal Democrats ltd; then that would take 5 minutes on Companies house website.
One thing we can be sure of is that Mr Farage knows that 2 +2 =4 not 5 and that he knows what a woman is. If Mr Farage gets elected hopefully spuds head will explode.
Lots of people down the seafront to support Nigel this afternoon. Lots of cheering and clapping, but three people with a “Farage not welcome here” banner and a bird with a ‘Free palestine’ scarf in opposition, so no doubt lots of prominence for those four on the news. In the interests of electoral fairness two ‘Greens’ were there before Nige turned up but then disappered.
Shook the great mans hand in my local……….
I’d like someone to open a charity called End the BBC. The fear that all charities become left wing after a generation or two wouldn’t matter because (i) the staff would be financially incentivised to get the BBC closed or sold off, and (ii) that would be accomplished within a generation anyway. That’s the advantage of having a purpose that is both measurable and achievable in finite time.
Then people could be told of the wisdom of leaving pots of money to the charity instead of having 40% (or more?) nicked in Inheritance Tax.
Farage appears to be little more than a manipulative exploiter

One is led to believe Janet Daley is not a fan of Trump either. Does Spud know he’s parroting a Torygraph article?
Would Lord Spudcup’s ideal Returning Office allow UKIP/Reform candidates to stand?
“so-called balance”
No further comment is needed!
The usual suspects often castigate the Beeb because Farage has been on QT “dozens of times”. I have to point out to them that he was the leader of the UK party with the largest number of votes in elections for MEPs, and it would be strange (even by BBC standards) if he were not invited to appear.
Back when (2008) we used to have such massive fights with the BBC about time on such shows. Well, not me, but Clive Page (same office, different side of it for Ukip). They kept trying to change the rules so as to minimise Ukip time on air. %ge at UK election, or election of some type, or no. elected and on and on. Every time we started to meet their old measure they tried to change it.
“Firstly, Reform is a private limited company controlled by Farage, and unaccountable as a consequence.”
Funny, that.. he not only gets his accounting, but also his corporate law wrong? Quelle surprise…
Double funny, because Wilders’ PVV is set up on the exact same principle: Private limited company, overseen by a foundation, in which Wilders is both Founder/CEO.
It’s a pretty normal construction over here from club- to company/NGO level to prevent revolts by “activist” stock holders/members.
On average Wilders, and barring foibles in UK law Farage as well, is more accountable, on several levels, from this position than any politician ever was..
Because ‘democracy works best when the voters are educated’. Ie, indoctrinated to think the way the PTB want them to think. You can’t have that when voices outside the range of thought acceptable to the PTB are allowed to be heard.
Managed Democracy – its not just a videogame slogan.
