There are more trans around?

Once upon a time, it was only hardcore bodybuilders who pumped themselves up with testosterone. Today it is no longer niche.

  1. So true.

A semi-autistic child only has to set foot in a Tavistock clone to get started on them.

If that’s too difficult there are evil people who feel it their duty to sell this shit online to confused kids.

  2. Loads of middle-aged men (for clarity: cis men) take testosterone. It accelerates some aspects of aging (e.g. hair loss), but slows more (muscle atrophy, energy levels dropping, osteoporosis). It’s basically just HRT, but for men instead of women.

I know this article is writing about bodybuilders and steroids rather than actual testosterone, but testosterone (usually as a gel, sometimes injected) is really common for men in the 45-65 range. Unlike the steroids, this is often prescribed by a doctor (though that’s often a specialist private doctor, not your regular family doctor).

Muscle atrophy is a serious thing the older your get, from what ‘ve been reading, but you don’t need testosterone just up your protein intake and exercise levels, far safer. I measured my protein intake over a week and was surprised at how low it was compared to the recommendation for an active person my age and started taking an occasional whey drink or eating high protein yoghurt.

Exercise is also good for energy levels but I can’t speak to osteoporosis in men.

  4. Messing around with your endocrine system is a bad idea, you’d be much better off on recreational drugs because at least the Devil’s Broccoli won’t give you cancer.

  5. It was never just ‘hardcore bodybuilders’. Tons of regular people used for workouts. And that doesn’t count baseball players;)
