Start-ups have attacked a “Soviet” proposal put forward by the financial industry’s lobby group to penalise UK tech businesses that list overseas.
Investors and trade bodies said calls from UK Finance to claw back taxpayer support for start-ups that shift their focus abroad was a “dumb” and “dangerous” idea.
This is Mazzo level idiocy. Govt subsidises, so govt should get the profits. But the moment govt is the shareholder, looking over the shoulder, the tech company fails.
Darpa does work – it subsidises. But then it fucks off.
Sigh. Fplk just aren’t getting what a public good is. If it’s a public good then sure, some subsidy might well be a good idea. But if it’s a public good then there’s no profit to be had from having subsidised it. By definition there isn’t. So, the very justification for the act of subsidy is the proof that this is a bad idea.
