I have published this video this morning. In it, I argue that centre-right parties – like Labour is now – have always facilitated fascism by promoting neoliberalism that deliberately ignores the needs of most people. The result has been a political vacuum that the centre-right created, which the far-right and fascism is now trying to fill.

  1. He’s arguing that neo-liberalism results in people’s needs being ignored, and that far-right ideas or fascism provide the answer to those needs.

    Radical.

  2. In what kind of bizarre alternate reality can the current Labour Party be described as Centre Right? The word delusional isn’t adequate to describe this level of fuckwittery.

  3. Spud presents the bien pensant categorisation:-

Greens – well meaning but a bit lefty
    Lib Dem’s – centrist
    SNP – also centrist
    Labour – centre right
    Conservatives – far right
    Reform – fascists

I doubt the bbc would disagree with any of that.

  4. I think he’s trying to make the standard leftist point that when people object to being gaslighted over immigrants raping, stabbing, scrounging and rioting, those people are really unhappy about capitalism but are too thick to see it.

  5. He’s channeling Roger Irrelevant.

I remain at a loss to understand how the big state, high tax, high regulation, constant interference in people’s lives is neoliberalism.

    Hatstand!

  6. He seems to be saying that Labour should be anti-immigrant (instead of being open-border neo-liberals), to stop the far right.

I’m not sure that’s what he wants to say, but that’s the only way I can make his words mean anything.

There are quite a few Viz characters that could be based on Murphy, for example

Spoilt Bastard and Wee Radge Joe (he just won’t let it go).

And one that has not yet appeared – Candid Cvnt.

  8. Dennis, Noting The Bright Light Emanating From Ely

Evidently Richard Murphy watched Joe Biden’s debate performance and is now crying, “Hold my beer!”

  9. John has the picture correct for Murphy’s mindmap whereas the Reality is

    Greens – Extreme Left
    Lib Dem’s – Far Left
    SNP – Extreme Left
    Labour – Far Left
    Conservatives – Extreme Left
    Reform – Moderate Right

It does make me chuckle when I think of the post on him Tim put up yesterday.

The guy is arguably more braindead than Joe Biden.

  10. Indeed Dennis. The possibility the Ely correspondent might be stricken with Alzeimer’s has not been often advanced here. Has he reached the incontinence stage?

  11. I think spud has got the France Parliament elections the wrong way round – the result was better than expected for the centrist and left so the Euro and the share index have gone up, and this should prove that the far right hate markets, based on his IQ 101 understanding that up = good from the point of view of markets. (trade=good from the point of view of markets of course, irrespective of prices being +/-)

  12. Dennis, Pointing Out The Obvious

Has he reached the incontinence stage?

If he’s still blogging, the answer is “Yes.”
