  1. It’s not even a lawsuit, it’s a complaint and a suggestion that the FEC should make it a legal case. Really quite constrained by US standards.

  2. @Arthur the Cat
As the complaint is about a blatant violation of the law covering political donations, if the FEC don’t act, the Trump campaign would sue the FEC. Undoubtably there will be donations that people who wanted to contribute to “Biden for President” who would not have contributed to “Harris for President” . I would hope that the Democratic party will be contacting all the donors and ask if they want to roll the unspent portion of their donation to Harris or get a refund.
The extent of donations refunded could be quite embarrassing for Harris but probably won’t be disclosed till after the election.

  3. I read, but it was only in passing, so I have now lost the source, that in some states, if Pedo Joe was already on the ballot, he can’t be replaced by a ‘ringer’.

Anyone know if that is the case ?

  4. The finest minds in the American media are now debating whether a 59 year old Indian woman is “brat”.

    Come, friendly nukes.

  5. Trump had better win in November or else a Biden or Obama appointed judge will fine him another $500m for something or other.

  6. @andyf
If what you’re saying is true, then there would be grounds for blocking any transfer of the money until the legal position has been settled. So expect applications for injunctions.

  7. John – remember, Alex Jones was fined $1.1Bn for saying words the feds don’t like.

It’s the land of the free doncha know.

Reading the German press it seems the complaint is that they’ve changed the name from Biden for President to Harris for President. Obviously IANAL, let alone an American one, but if I’d donated to X and they then changed it to Y I’d at least want the option of getting my money back and if they didn’t I’d be considering a fraud or similar complaint.

  9. John – remember, Alex Jones was fined $1.1Bn for saying words the feds don’t like.

He was ordered to pay $1.4bn in damages for defamation. It seems an absurd amount, even for a pretty nasty defamation, but it’s not a fine.

  10. Interested – potato, potatoh.

It certainly had nothing to do with “law”, and everything to do with power.

  11. Having watched some Alex Jones, $1.4b seems pretty light. His format seemed to consist entirely of lying to camera.

  12. In those states where Biden is already on the ballot, /he/ isn’t on the ballot, “Electors for Biden” are on the ballot. You vote for a group of electors. The issue is then whether those electors are in states where Electors are pledged, and it is illegal to be faithless electors. In “free” states you can vote for Biden’s electors and they are free to go and vote for Harris instead. Or Sanders. Or Goldwater. Or One Man Bucket. But in non-faithless states they are compelled by law to vote for Biden

There’s also the issue that The Electors vote is by secret ballot, so, ho ho, if only some of the Electors are faithless you don’t know who to prosecute. All you can do (and only in 14 states I think) is just void the vote. “And the vote from Idaho is…. null point”

  13. It is claimed or maybe alleged thst some congress critters were about to ask for their state’s electors to be challenged when the votes were counted. because of shenanigans. This was of course on Jan 6th 2020. Events were kicked off which meant the chance never happened because congress went into emergency session (or was evacuated). Good story, no idea whether it’s true.

In those states where Biden is already on the ballot, /he/ isn’t on the ballot, “Electors for Biden” are on the ballot. You vote for a group of electors.

Are you sure that’s right? My understanding was that States appoint the electors and in many cases how they will vote, but it is the candidates name that is on the ballot sheet?

I just found this, I can’t vouch for it but it does appear valid and the few I checked had the candidates name on them.

And looking at some of them there’s no wonder people get confused and voting takes forever.

  15. Perhaps the Republicans (Trump) have taken a page from their opposition and employed lawyers to file suits, complaints, requests for injunctions, etc., whenever the Democrats do anything. The process is the punishment, remember.

  16. Depending on the state, a presidential ballot paper may say:
    Electors For:
    Biden, Harris (Democrat)
    Trump, Pence (Republican)
    Awaywith, Fairies (Green)
a vote for a candidate is a vote for electors for that candidate

    it may say:
    Presidential Electors:
Able, Baker, Jones, Smith, Smith, Vance (Democrat)
Charlie, Delta, Echo, Victor, Watson, Young (Republican)
Fishburn, Green, Haili, Igloo, Jack, Keif (Green)

    .etc…

but, legally, a voter is voting for a collection of Electors. I think in some states you would vote for individual Electors, but with states having 40+ 50+ Electors that’s impractical so most? all? elect slates. Until I think the 1930s some states’ legislatures picked the Electors as the Federal constitution explicitly states the States choose how the States choose the States’ representatives.

  17. Kamala Harris Freedom Fighter

    Harris is a freedom fighter.
Harris supports equal rights for gays.
Vance insulted women who are single and have no kids.

I am not homophobic, but here is a article about Trumps VP pick l.
Vance suggested he thought he was gay at one time. And his pal his famous billionaire Peter Thiel a man who is against the welfare state, and once suggested women having the vote was bad for libertarianism.
