The English Defence League (EDL) could be proscribed as a terror organisation in the wake of riots in Southport, Angela Rayner has suggested.
It could be all sorts of things, prole, annoying, impolitics, even violent if you want, but it’s not terrorist.
But then give any government any power and they’ll always expand the use of it, right?
If ‘rioting’ is enough to get them proscribed, then what about BLM – which the Labour party supports?

Anyone involved in the attack on the Mosque deserves to be locked up but demonstrable lies from the government just makes misinformation from its enemies easier to believe.

Ahhh, John, that just means these ‘out of town agitators’ are simply smarter than plod, and don’t get caught.
Oh it definitely does Mr Womby. I have daily conversations with a member. But it’s largely gone below the visible horizon. And it’s getting vastly bigger than it was. It was just a small group of football thugs & irrelevant. Now there’s enormous support & it’s headed for mainstream. They can put a few hundred blokes on the streets any time they want to.
What’s next? SMERSH? An arrest warrant for Professor Moriarty? Breaking off diplomatic relations with Narnia?
Difference is the EDL don’t have deep pocketed petro state backers to allow them to take the government to court over this, nor are there civil servants who will give the minister advice that this might be ultra vires or that evidence is needed that might do so for other “civil society” groups.
As people here and in massive numbers all over the internet have pointed out, the EDL ceased to exist over 10 years ago. Politicians must know this. They must also know that even if it did still exist, they wouldn’t all come with tabards and identifying numbers in an official marked coach to smash up a mosque.
What they haven’t worked out is that the proles can actually read, think for themselves, and take their own video footage.
Or perhaps they have worked this out, and they are simply taking the piss and showing that they don’t care about public perceptions. They lie because it humiliates us to know we’ve been subjugated.
