We need to tax the poor because they are poor. Their poverty disrupts societies, and we cannot afford that.

  2. Incredible lack of awareness here – everyone in this country is spectacularly wealthy on a global scale, I suspect he is wealthy even within the UK scale.

  3. Being wealthy is bad. Therefore the government must confiscate wealth whereby the government becomes wealthy, and therefore bad.

  4. “wealth disrupts economies”

Right, so anything with a GINI coefficient other than 0 is not a balanced economy. Interesting simplification of economics, that. And yet he still can’t get his sums right.

  5. Third, we need to tackle the tax haven abuse that the UK has promoted for so long. They need to be brought under control, and their abuse has to be ended. They exist to exacerbate inequality in the world and to undermine the right of the state to tax. They have no role left to play that is of any value to humankind;

He is now arbiter of what activities ‘provide value to humankind’ – as you say Tim, one ring to rule them all – what a deeply sad individual he is. If he wasn’t the embodiment of pure evil in human form one might almost feel sympathy – but no.

The cornerstone of Murphy’s personality is nothing more than mean spirited envy.

  7. Take from the rich is all we ever hear from Herr Professor Obersturmbanfuhrer Kartoffel.

    That’s not just a chip on his shoulder, it’s a mega-pack of McCain’s.

  8. Hasn’t it been repeatedly demonstrated that introducing a wealth tax is a great way to tank the economy? It’s sort of wierd that punishing people for being successful leads directly to failure but there it is.

  9. Pride, greed, wrath, envy, lust, gluttony, sloth.
All present in generous amounts in his missives and his personality and appearance.

Plus a big fan of having us all identifyable by a Number, to dictate and control us, and deny us if we don’t follow.

Not quite the Beast, but certainly one of its acolytes.

  10. Of course wealth disrupts economies. It was wealth that transformed some hunter-gatherer societies into famring with much greater *average* food consumption (per head as well as absolute) and wealth that enabled a few to become millers so that not every woman had to spend thousands of hours per year grinding corn, and wealth that built sailing ships that transported crops and goods from one island or kingdom to another so that each could share in the wider range of food/goods that they did not themselves produce and … and it was the wealth of the coal-owners that paid Stephenson’s father to design a steam engine that his son improved to build the “Rocket” that transformed travel and made it possible for the working class to go farther than they could walk and wealth that financed all the factories and machines that make life so comfortable for workers and the deserving poor and stupid accountants living in Ely.
It is a bloody good thing that wealth disrupts economies for the better!

“But, what I won’t agree to do is surrender the space that is Twitter to him. Nor will I acquiesce to his control by quietly slipping away. “No pasaran” is my cry. I will stay and say what I think is right.

Musk can try to silence me. If he tries, I already have other outlets to comment on. His action would be noted. But this is not the time to offer any comfort or support to those who might seek to oppress us. I am staying on Twitter”

Elon, Elon, I’m over here Elon. It’s Richard Murphy, Elon!

No I’m here, HERE ELON! Not there!

No pasaran, and I’ve got a Che Guevara poster on the kitchen wall too!

Dennis Moore (John Cleese): Wait a tic … blimey, this redistribution of wealth is trickier than I thought.

    FTFY Dennis

  14. @bravefart – if that’s what he’s posting on his website it’s obviously he’s losing his grip on reality. If he’s libelled Mr Musk – (he’s got form for) this he could be facing financial ruin. I was only commenting yesterday that I hoped for more humurous outbursts from the potato, but that would do equally as well.

This is the full post for posterity

I refuse to retreat in defeat from Twitter.

I have used Twitter, for good and ill, since 2008. It has most definitely helped spread the message I seek to disseminate. Many millions of reads have been generated as a result. To date, it has been my most successful social media platform.

I think he never turns down any followers so there’s at least 20,000 spambots.

Saying that I acknowledge all the problems that the current ownership of Twitter creates. I do not share Elon Musk’s opinions. Many are anathema to me. That is clearly true for others as well. They are calling for me to quit the platform.

So then go – or use the block button. You’ve blocked 25,000 people – what is one more??

I have decided not to do so. I used it before Musk. I hope to do so after Musk. He is not why I am there.

There’s a reason people assume he is a clever work of satire.

I am there to create, comment and disseminate views that Musk and many others might dislike. I do so because I have convictions that require me to do that.

Musk has not created or in any significant way altered those opinions. But what I do know is that many people on Twitter seem to appreciate me sharing them there. 250,000 followers ( or thereabouts) seems to confirm that fact.

I am sure Musk is really bothered.

!So, in my opinion to leave Twitter would be to say Musk has won. It would be to suggest he is succeeding in silencing the left. More than that, it would send out the signal that I agreed with his right to do so. I don’t do that.

Yes – Musk is looking at the demented rantings of a fifth rate academic whose income consists of grants taken from organisations under false pretences and an ex wife’s pension.

He could, of course, take my account down. I cannot stop that. This is the problem that having monopolistic social media in private ownership creates. That is a problem society has to learn to address.

I have seen almost no take down of Left wing accounts – most have voluntarily left

But, what I won’t agree to do is surrender the space that is Twitter to him. Nor will I acquiesce to his control by quietly slipping away. “No pasaran” is my cry. I will stay and say what I think is right.

Maybe they’ll give him the George Cross

Musk can try to silence me. If he tries, I already have other outlets to comment on. His action would be noted. But this is not the time to offer any comfort or support to those who might seek to oppress us. I am staying on Twitter.

He seems really oppressed from where I am
Sitting. What a deeply pathetic man. Walking proof of the ‘Banality of evil’.

  16. Thanks VP – i don’t like going onto his site – It’s not good for my blood pressure – though it’s usually caused not so much by the drivel that spews from the potato but by the obsequious comments in support by the likes of pilgrim slight retard and all the other left wing cretins. It’s obvious that the potato is acting out some psychodrama in his head- and he’s losing .
