A Labour councillor who was filmed saying far-Right rioters are “disgusting” and should have their throats cut has been arrested.
Ricky Jones, a councillor for Princes, in Dartford, was seen on video footage telling anti-racism protesters in Walthamstow, north-east London: “We need to cut all their throats.”
The Labour Party said his behaviour was “completely unacceptable” and he had been suspended. He was also arrested on suspicion of encouraging murder.
And, you know, that’s a significant charge. My Google Fu says life as a potential sentence.
And now for my cunning plan, We define “eliminating the bourgeouisie” as the encouragement of murder and thereby properly and really deal with the SWP.
Yeah !
There’s no place for that sort of language in political discourse.
String ‘im up !
I can see two possible outcomes here.
He is made an example of two show us that there really is no such thing as ‘two tier’ policing / justice*, or gets a slap on the wrist due to his previous good standing and ‘work in the community’.
And I wonder if he’ll be tried within days and if found guilty, banged up within a week like some of the white ‘far right scum’.
* Have those two boys who duffed up plod at Manchester Airport been tried yet…… rhetorical Q.
Also, slightly related, an item on the Toady programme this morning talking about a Police Forces’ domestic abuse ’email hotline’ that no one bothered to look at for 9 months…..
I predict the CPS will claim there’s not enough evidence, or some such, and fail to proceed with charges.
Never forget that in 2021 young males came down from Bradford and drove round certain areas of North London shouting “kill the Jews, rape their women” through a megaphone. The police could hardly fail to identify them with all the video evidence.
So what did the CPS do?
https://metro.co.uk/2022/11/20/all-charges-over-convoy-who-shouted-rape-jewish-daughters-are-dropped-17793247/
Sorry.
I should have said “What did the CPS finally do nearly eighteen months later”.
Two Tier justice has been around for quite a while now.
“and really deal with the SWP”
But think of the printers. Without all those instant rent-a-mob placards to print they’d go out of business. 🙂
Who radicalised him? He obviously thought it was ok to say such things and, given the applause, his audience thought so too.
He might lose his position as a councillor but it’s highly unlikely he’ll suffer any further adverse impact. Serious consequence are for the other side – my guess is he’d suffer a fine at worst
Strange that the Gruaniad have said two tier policing is “a myth….propogated by Tommy Robinson”, despite proclaiming for decades that blacks, gays and assorted other favoured minorities have suffered exactly that.
Addolff.
Hope this helps:-
In his best-selling book How to Be an Antiracist, Ibram Xolani Kendi (born Ibram Henry Rogers), wrote, “The only remedy to past discrimination is present discrimination. The only remedy to present discrimination is future discrimination.”
“eliminating” is quite good; I note that the US Securitate prefers “neutralising”. Sundry twerps like “taking them out”.
I find “killing” adequate to the task.
Jonathan – one of those cheering him on was a woman from Amnesty International.
Incidentally, anyone else concerned about the ability of the SWP to raise an army of tens of thousands, complete with banners, all in a matter of hours?
“We need to cut all their throats.”
That’s what the other one said.
Mr Womby, how unsurprising! I’m sure all those spontaneous anti-fascist demonstrations were just concerned locals uniting against evil white racists….
“Ricky Jones”. What is it with the Welsh at the moment?
– Good
Is it really? I’d say the only positive aspect to it is that the other side is getting a little taste of what they asked for with hate speech laws, etc. It was too general a rant to be a direct incitement to violence; much like occasional calls in the comments here to murder various groups and individuals. The reaction of the milquetoast leftie crowd was so odd that it looked like he’d delivered an in joke or something.
Be careful what you wish for lest it lands on you.
PJF – was seen on video footage telling anti-racism protesters in Walthamstow, north-east London: “We need to cut all their throats.”
“Anti-racism” protesters already want to cut your throat. Left wing political violence is a lot more aggressive and successful than right wing violence.
Left wing political violence is a lot more aggressive and successful than right wing violence.
The left has always used violence or the threat of it, as a legitimate tactic. The combined use of the democratic & the extra-democratic. “Everything must be fought for or fought against. Those who disagree will just have to succumb to it. That we are unarguably correct justifies anything”
It’s always bemused me, people of what ever right you have don”t learn & use the same tactics. What’s the problem? Because they’re successful?
for the counter riots don’t the authorities have form here with plans for ‘spontaneous’ community events to tamp down dissatisfaction with the latest outrage.
The fact that this strategy is likely a factor in the riots won’t stop them doubling down on using it
Apparently the Amnesty girl right next door to him and cheering him on couldn’t actually hear what he was saying. His voice was obviously obscured by the megaphone.
Doh

@John
I think it was Thomas Sowell that said the answer to discrimination is not more discrimination
There aren’t too many news reports as yet but I found one which said that Mr Jones has been remanded into custody until 6 September without entering a plea.
I’m no legal expert but does this mean that the CPS has opted for a jury trial rather than a straightforward magistrate?
@ John
It is a serious crime – incitement to murder; so it is not necessarily a political decision that CPS have opted for a jury trial. Conspiracy to murder should carry a life sentence (I do not know whether it does but it should do).
@john77
There’s people appeared overnight on equally serious charges. And been instantly sentenced to serious time.
I wouldn’t mind knowing what’s been going on here. They suspended judicial due process? Did these people not get the legal advice they should be entitled to? I don’t know any proper brief would advise pleading guilty to charges like this at an initial hearing without having sight of the evidence. There may not be any evidence or the evidence could be contestable for all sorts of reasons. The legal advice I’ve always had is never, ever admit to anything. That’s your lawyer’s job.
I’m wondering if these convictions could be overturned on the basis that guilty pleas were made under duress. Because it sounds very much like they were.
There’s a judge trying it on here: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/08/09/judge-refuses-bail-riot-bystanders-belfast/
“Refusing bail, the judge said: “Anybody involving themselves in this type of behaviour, this type of disorder, as an active participant or a curious observer can expect to be, save for the most exceptional circumstances, remanded into custody, and this defendant is remanded into custody.”
That’s simply wrong. Being a “curious observer” of a crime does not make you a participant.* If that was true, anyone who’d witnessed a crime would be liable to treated as a participant. Journalists in particular. No it’s the “refusing bail”. It’s the oldest trick in the book. Cough for it or we lock you up. Being remanded is the penalty for not doing what we want. Anyone would be a fool to fall for it. You’d be exchanging a relatively short period on remand for possibly a lengthy sentence.
*I believe there’s a technical offence of riotous assembly. But certain conditions have to be satisfied for that. The refusal of police order to disburse. So there would have had to be such an order that the accused would have to be aware of.
If an XR-type ‘protestor’ appears in court, you can bet they’ll be represented by a KC (a competent criminal one, not Jolyon or similar) probably paid for by daddy, and any sentence worse than a pat on the head will be appealed all the way to the ECHR. For those on charges of riotous assembly, they’ll be lucky to get the duty solicitor, if they’re offered a brief at all.
