To whom?

About what?

Jermaine Jenas has been sacked by the BBC over complaints about inappropriate communications including text messages.

Hmm?

It is understood Jenas was cut from the presenting team following an internal process.

A female colleague had come forward with concerns about alleged flirtatious behaviour, The Sun reported.

Trying to chatup the make up girl? Or summat stronger?

Getting fired for flirting does seem a tad extreme….

  1. Hope his texts were snappier than his punditry.

“Inappropriate” probably means that they were causing people to fall asleep while driving or operating heavy plant because they were so dull.

  2. Must be something pretty damned serious to get him sacked by the bbc considering how they pussy-footed around a recent high-profile example of inappropriate communications. I haven’t read anything about Shearer, Lineker et al rushing to his defence.

  3. I have no idea who Jermaine Jonas is.
    Is he famous?

As for whether he sent dodgy messages or behaved badly…?
I have no idea since I literally read his name for the first time now.

This incredibly thought-provoking and deeply insightful comment is brought to you while I’m having a post busy night shift Maccys breakfast.

  4. “Getting fired for flirting does seem a tad extreme….”

It would do, yes, if not for recent events at the BBC, as John notes. They can’t afford to take chances any more.

  5. He was probably sacked for trying to flirt with a person of the opposite sex over the age of consent…………..

  6. If he flirted with her because she is a woman, and wouldn’t have flirted with an equally attractive man, that’s extreme discrimination and a potential terrorism offence.

  7. “It is understood Jenas was cut from the presenting team following an internal process.”

So that means he fingered her at least.

  8. Well, the Huw Edwards affair (!) started off with him paying thousands of pounds for pictures of a young mans bottom. Having got us used to the fact Huw was up to something naughty, it then progressed to a full blown pedo thing and will doubtless end with a “Don’t do it again!” sentence. What twisted path this saga will follow, who can tell?

  9. “He was probably sacked for trying to flirt with a person of the opposite sex over the age of consent…………..”

With the crucial caveat that she didn’t view his advances positively enough as well. Had she done so of course there wouldn’t be a case to answer. Sexual harassment in the workplace is purely an act committed by men not found attractive by the woman in question.

To be fair Jenas did score a goal for England, once. He also went to the 2006 World Cup, but didn’t play.

He was a player for Spurs in their glory years when they won precisely fuck all.

  11. Hey Otto, wot about the 2008 League Cup!!!!!!!!! (Not much I know, but we did win something).

p.s. The glory years were the sixties………….

  12. Broom:
“The truth is he was fired for having a completely implausible hairline.”

If that were the case, Jenas’s claim for unlawful dismissal in the resulting tribunal would rest entirely on ITV’s willingness to put Joleon Lescott in front of a camera. What’s much weirder is that he continues to get away with being a Wes Streeting doppelgänger.

  13. CJA @ 10.16, ah Wes Streeting.

In this day and age where saying something hurty gets you banged up for a stretch, I wonder why he hasn’t been up before the beak for all those nasty tweets he posted (about pushing people he didn’t like under a train and such like….).
