If you actually have to say that

Sir Keir Starmer has denied he has lost control of Downing Street despite civil war breaking out at the centre of his government.

Then you have.

The Prime Minister was forced to defend his authority

As with so much it’s one of those things you’ve got or you don’t…..

  1. Labour, and by that I mean Starmer, has lost control of the narrative.

The media’s surprisingly short honeymoon period is no more, has ceased to be, bereft of life it rests in peace, it is an ex-honeymoon period.

  2. Him removing Maggie’s picture told us all we need to know about his mindset. He knows he hasn’t got it to be PM. The only question is, who will be Brutus and deliver the coup de grace. I don’t think Labour have an equivalent to letters to the chairman of the 1922 committee. It’ll be more bloody than that.

  3. David Lammy getx my nomination to take over as PM. He has just suffered one of his “Marie Antoinette” moments over Azerbaijan and while the mess he would make in the top job would be painful, at least it would be entertaining.

  4. Sue Grey.

What is it with these middle-aged progressive wimmin that they feel the need to wear leather biker jackets? The cretin Codswallop does it too.

  5. The man on Talk TV says the cabinet is the University of Sussex student union. All ieological theory, no evidence of having grown up or ever heard a different point of view. Is there one of them with any sort of an air of authroity or competence? Lammy? Cooper? Reeves? The Ginger Growler?

Nourbons. Learned notinng, forgotten nothing. Thinking power was about being able to enact you creepy socialist ides, but apparently never having thought of how to deal with any of the long-term problems of government, as if just not being a tory was enough.

  6. “But advisers on lower salaries than Ms Gray are said to be recalling these words in anger, with one telling The Times: “Sue is seen as the driver behind a clampdown on both overall Spad [special adviser] numbers and pay, so there was a great deal of surprise when it emerged she was setting records for her own pay.” ”

A lovely display of Troughism there….
It’s not that she’s getting so much, it’s all about them getting not the same or more..

Honestly, if under the bottom line she managed to not only get less busybodies paid, but also paid less, and managed to piss off the fat leeches, she’s worth every penny..

  7. Rayner is no replacement

We already have examples of her troughing activity with house purchases and exploitation of right to buy

Now we learn she had free use of Lord Alli’s New York apartment over New Year

It may not be quite as in your face but she has had her cardmarked – and no doubt sharks are already circling there too

Maybe Lammy is the best answer – is he too stupid to trough?

  8. starfish: «Maybe Lammy is the best answer – is he too stupid to trough?»

He’s on record as claining that Henry VIII was succeeded by Henry VII which is somewhat backward.

  9. Well, there is one experienced ex-shadow-cabinet member who isn’t involved in this shit-show, so can’t be blamed for it. Thornberry 4 PM!

Won’t happen though, the closest the Labour party will get to a female PM is taking her portrait down…

  10. “I promise if you look at it from the outside, I don’t think other people in the world would share the view that there is mounting chaos”

Sadly there’s no Maggie waiting in the wings to rescue us this time – seems to be Sharia Law and molestation of your children by the Blob or Hamas on the menu.

  11. Now I was going to post a link to a Torygraph article which explored whether TwoTier as DPP was party to the CPS decision not to continue with a case against Al Fayed regarding a sexual assault on a minor. TwoTier naturally was denying all knowledge. “It never crossed his desk.”
Except when I went to copy/paste the link, it seemed to have vanished. They now have a story saying “Harrods ‘must take responsibility’ for ‘monster’ Mohamed Fayed”
I wonder what all that was about? Maybe it was a mirage due to the heat here.

  12. He’s on record as claining that Henry VIII was succeeded by Henry VII which is somewhat backward.
Maybe he thought he was on Countdown.

  13. Guido still has a story up about TTK and not prosecuting Fayed here.

Perhaps someone leaned on the Terriblegraph but Guido is fairly fireproof.

  14. @TG
The chances of TwoTier not being in the loop approximate zero. That case would automatically reopen the Diana saga. So you have interests right up to Brenda (GRHS). Very odd if the Torygraph’s squashed it. Unless someone’s gone off half cock, they have evidence of his finger in the pie & there’s a whole lot more to the story. This is the sort of thing could send TT to a lot further than the naughty step. Perverting the course of justice?

  15. If anyone were making a book on it I’d have a daft bet on a rapprochement with Jeremy Corbyn, readmittance to the Labout Party and in 18 months or so the Corbynator as PM. In which case I’ll thank fuck I’m in Peru.

  16. The Tories never went after Al Fayed, despite years in power.
And who was in power when Saville was knighted?

  17. If I had only a 12 point lead over what was a couple of months ago possibly the most unpopular government in history, I’d be shittin’ bricks.
And if our Peruvian friend’s outsider came to pass, it’ll be fun watching the tanks rolling across Westminster Bridge. But he’s right. Better on TV.

  18. I want a free democracy. I do not want people to be tortured by a tyrant. We must never have a dictatorship in the UK again.
You would be abused in a dictatorship as much as any left winger. You have no self awareness.

  19. Except when I went to copy/paste the link, it seemed to have vanished

    bis
I read that article this morning – there was even a picture of TTK and the comment that he denied ever seeing the case. A further comment said TTK stated he looked at every important case the CPS handled as the boss. Can’t have it both ways.
The article has now removed any references to TTK. The Tel has been nobled.

  20. The Al Fayed/TTK CPS story was front page on the dead tree version of the Telegraph, so its a bit difficult recall all of those,

  21. Nothing wrong with a dictatorship. One in my country took the place from third world to first world. Some ways I preferred it when Franco was running it. Less feckin’ socialist scum.

  22. Take note Mr Trousers. King or Emperor. President, Prime minister or Dictator. All rule subject to the approval of the Mum of the guard on the place gate. And if Mum approves, who are we to ague?

  23. BIS – Dictatorships are evil, they lead to corrupt evil people having power.
Innocent people would be tortured to death in a dictatorship. I can assure you that you would be one of the first people locked up in any left or right wing dictatorship. You have no self awareness.
Only ignorant oafs support the government having unaccountable power.
