Seven men were jailed for sexually abusing two girls in Rotherham in the latest convictions under the UK’s biggest-ever law enforcement operation against child sex abuse.

The agency said Mohammed Amar, Mohammed Siyab, Yasser Ajaibe, Mohammed Zameer Sadiq, Abid Saddiq, Tahir Yassin and Ramin Bari were jailed on Thursday and Friday for the offences which were committed between April 2003 and April 2008.
It is wholly and entirely legal to print the names of those convicted.

You can garner significant information from the lack of description.
e.g. they obviously weren’t ‘far right extremists’ as that would definitely have been included.
They may of course have been ‘from a good Christian family’ which is another way of obscuring reality.

I was listening to the Free Speech Union podcast recently and they started talking about the APPG definition of Islamophobia that Labour is likely to pass in to law. Apparently:
Saying Jesus is Lord can be defined as Islamophobic because the inference is that nobody else can be the Lord including Mohammed.
Its will also be Islamophobic to claim Islam was spread by the sword, even though there’s countless books documenting it.

Despite numerous reports during the week saying he would be sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court on Friday he doesn’t appear on the lists. What is going on?

I recall one of the recent rioters also getting a nine year sentence primarily for putting a piece of chipboard into a burning wheelie bin.

He pleaded guilty on Wednesday following which the District Judge refused bail and committed his case to Crown Court for sentencing on Friday as the severity of the offences exceeded his 6-month authority saying he could expect a “substantial custodial sentence”.
So just 22 weeks would be surprising.

You are basically right, but “unskilled” in Germany means you haven’t passed some six-year official state-approved “apprenticeship” in changing lightbulbs.
A friend had to register as unemployed recently, someone with specific scientific expertise, 20 years of experience, PhDs and other qualifications coming out their arse (yes, a friend, not me), and was told by the job centre that they are considered “unqualified” as they do not have some specific German qualification to do some specific job.
This renders all jokes about Japanese sushi chefs spending their first 3 years cooking rice invalid. A Japanese sushi chef in Germany with requisite 3 years rice cooking experience will still have to do the local fucking Ausbildung. And if there isn’t one, will be forever “ungelernt”.

The people really causing a problem are those who take every wrongdoing by a member of some group they are prejudiced against and use it as a means of propagating bigotry against the group. This means that people can be too afraid to report further wrongdoing in case it causes more bigotry.
There’s nothing wrong with looking at crime figures objectively and trying to decide how to allocate policing etc, but if you come to it with prejudice, merely looking for an excuse to criticise some group, you’ll inevitably find some grounds to use. Even if you divided people into groups totally at random, there would still be some variation in statistics between them
Given sufficient bigotry and prejudice as an incentive, a person could scour all police and court reports for wrongdoers called Jonathan and produce a succession of scare stories until it got to the point that many otherwise intelligent people would express the view that while there were some perfectly nice people called Jonathan, overall we should play safe and lock them all up, deport them, or even execute them. Bear in mind that one Jonathan is notorious for a publication advocating eating babies.
