Embrace the power of “also”

Lea Pericoli obituary: Italian player responsible for ‘tennis eyebrow’
Nemesis of prudes who drew crowds at the Championships in the 1950s with short skirts that revealed three inches of midriff

Thassa very, very, short skirt if it’s showing 3 inches of midriff.

It is thought the headline writer not being accurate enough.

Lea Pericoli was only 20 when in the mid-1950s she revealed three inches of midriff during the Kent tennis championships at Beckenham while also wearing what was described as “the shortest skirt ever seen in England”.

That “also” rather changes the meaning there.

  1. I understand that Capt. Potato is de facto the new Anna Wintour but it’s odd to find him as the subject category of this post!⁉
