Anyone but Badenoch should be next Tory leader, says Nadine Dorries

Nothing quite so bitchy as a woman seeing another outshine her.

Mad Nads at work.

Badenoch is the only sensible choice. I can’t believe that the Tories are crazy enough even to have a competition.

Badenoch for 2 reasons: she’s the only one in politics who seems to want have a debate around trade-offs and;

For the delight of seeing a black woman leading a so called right wing party, their 4th female leader no less, facing off against the stale white male leader of a self proclaimed progressive party that’s only every had white males as its leader.

Whoever the tories choose is irrelevant. It’s nothing more than an exercise in deck chair rearranging.

If Badenoch was actually conservative, she wouldn’t be involved with the Tory party

The shadow of Gove makes her a questionable choice.

The Tories have fooled too many people too many times. Loss of popularity? No problem, just change the leader and make a few right-wing utterances. Rinse and repeat. All the while drifting further and further left, and presiding over the collapse of every institution in the land, and retreating meekly before the Great Replacement.

So no. Not again. The party must die, even with Badenoch as leader. She should join Reform.

It’s not going to be her though, is it? They will ensure the members are presented with two options: Fake Tory Boy Jenrick (who really is trying too hard) and one of the wet/one nation/ closet libdems.

Tory leadership contenders are nothing more than bubbles in the bath.

A ringing endorsement in my book.
Kemi probably is the best choice but Tories are on the brink of becoming as relevant as the Libdems, and I don’t think any of them have got the legs for a root and branch rebuild.

MB we’ve only got a shower in the bathroom now and farting in the shower doesn’t have the same effect, but I get your drift…

Farage then.

The Tories would be smart to elect Badenoch, but for her I suspect the timing is wrong. Can’t see the Tories getting back in power in 2029 unless it’s in some kind of arrangement (maybe confidence and supply) with Reform.

A bit like William Hague picking up the crown after Major, if he’d waited, he could have seized the opportunity that Cameron had.

Not that the leader of the Tories makes any difference to me personally as I refuse to vote for them anymore.

Vote Reform!

I wonder whether Boris shagged her? She certainly seems determined to hold the flame for him.

A lifetime’s experience has taught me to beware of Nigerians. This could be the biggest 419 ever.

I should make myself clear. I’m speculating that Boris shagged Nads. I think Nads is fruity enough to catch his eye, even if now being somewhat over-ripe.

Or, perhaps that Boris didn’t shag Nads but for her, hope springs eternal.

After reading some of Billy’s opeds in the Times, I reckon that we were actually better off with Call me Dave.

@Norman – I have been speculating as much myself. She does seem to be his one remaining fan. Fine looking woman for her age, mind. I wouldn’t blame him.

Sure, but now he’s too busy having totally heterosexual sex with Ffion.

Odd cove William Hague.

Then again, I don’t remember him putting up a super injunction to silence his critics over sharing about the nature of his relationship with 25-year-old Chris Myers.

Unlike someone else we can’t mention.

Oh, I thought you meant Boris and Bads.

But I suppose it doesn’t have to just be one of them.

“If Badenoch was actually conservative, she wouldn’t be involved with the Tory party”

I think that she and Braverman are conservatives, they just haven’t read the state of the party or maybe just have too much emotional attachment.

Even if Kemi wins, it won’t change things because the rest of the Conservative MPs and activists are big state, aristocratic one nation types who want a loser like Tom Tugendhat and Lib Dem policies. Look at how many of them fought against closing ticket offices that only 5 old people ever use. They’re not going to support what should be done, like Beeching II.

And the decline in popularity of Labour since the election is not going to the Conservatives, it’s going to Reform.
