Ah, but the reason why…..

Special counsel prosecutors will shut down their criminal cases against Donald Trump before he takes office, according to two people with direct knowledge of the matter, after his stunning victory against Kamala Harris meant they would not proceed to trial.

The move reflects the reality that the cases will not be completed before inauguration day. Once the former president returns to the White House, the special counsel’s office would be prohibited from pursuing further criminal actions under justice department policy.

Well, there’s that. You’ve got to impeach a sitting President, not lawfare against him.

But possibly the real reason is that as the cases didn’t work as lawfare then why bother?

  1. Alternatively, they could actually do some work and bring him to trial much sooner. Inauguration is two and a half months away: that’s more than enough time for most court cases.

The truth is that they enjoyed having this hang over him for as long as possible.

  2. It’s interesting how little the “convicted felon!” angle was used during the campaign. You have to assume internal polling said it was hurting not helping the Dems and that was that.

There’s going to be some jangling nerves in DC that’s for sure. the 51 current and former intelligence personnel for example

Polling showed that even never Trumpers thought it was unfair and politically motivated and made them more sympathetic towards Trump.

  4. I caught a clip of that Leitia woman, the NY AG yesterday, trying to be defiant.

There was literal terror in her voice. Surely it must have occurred to her at some point that Drumpf would win ?

  5. The verdict to all these charges was returned by the Grand Jury of the American People by significant majority – Not Guilty.

An election is the ultimate jury process.

    That’s the reason.

Technically a grand jury returns “true bill” or “no true bill”. In this case it was “no true bill”. Which basically means that even with presenting only the prosecuting side, the jury still thought the case was BS.

The convictions were BS. The rest of the charges are BS, purely politically motivated.

This is also why they weren’t used much in the campaign. You had to be pretty delusional to think that calling Trump a “convicted felon” was actually making people less likely to vote for him, as opposed to merely reminding people of just how unfair the process was.

  7. I can’t believe the NY AG thought that was a good move. I guess she’s now staring into the abyss and it is staring right back with a vengeance!

  8. The big federal case (the ‘classified documents’) was already DIW anyway.

However, expect that the state cases (especially the sentencing) to be pushed even harder.

  9. The New Zealand TV news has been pushing the “Convicted Felon” line as hard as it can,but most of the media are left wing wankers any way.

  10. Bingo! #Agammamon

So, Trump has the sentencing hearing about the 34 New York State felonies coming up November 18th, is that right?

The judge will sentence Trump to some time in jail. Judge’s reasoning will be that if Lula could serve as president of Brazil from prison so can Trump

While in prison, (but before inauguration day), Trump will die of Jeffrey Epstein sudden death syndrome
(although the official cover story will be that Trump died of covid-vaccine induced myocarditis)

Has this been Killary Hillary’s plan all along?
