So, as I read it, we’re back in the Trump Era.

Well done to the laddie, obviously. Most slink off into the night after a defeat.

Now we’ve got to find out how much of his varied promises were simply performative election stuff and how much serious intentions. Which is going to be, as they say, interesting…..

  1. Miles to go yet.

It takes a long time to count all the dead voters and the Mexican guy stamping all of Kamala’s papers has hurt his arm.

  2. It’ll certainly be interesting to see how his Russia-Ukraine stance interfaces with the security briefings he’ll now be getting.

  3. A great day for America and the West in general.

My biggest worry is, given the two assassination attempts, will he survive ’til Inauguration Day?

  4. ’Most slink off into the night after a defeat.’

As indeed she did, without publicly thanking her staff and supporters (which even Hillary never did). Which says a lot about her character, doesn’t it?

  5. My biggest worry is, given the two assassination attempts, will he survive ’til Inauguration Day?

That was one of my immediate thoughts too. Given the apparent CIA/FBI/Secret Service involvement in the previous attempts, they have an incentive for not seeing Trump in the White House. And that goes for the Epstein-listers too.

Meanwhile the meltdown is a wonder to behold.

  6. If he becomes gaga in office we must be sure to make the point that he’d have been sane in office if the Bidenistas hadn’t stolen the 2020 election.

(Did they steal it? They certainly tried. But they are pretty incompetent so maybe they didn’t change the result anyway.)

  7. If they shoot Trump we get President Vance, not President Harris. I suppose if they also shoot Vance there must be another election. I can’t imagine the Trump voters suddenly switching to the Dems under those circumstances, so there’s not really a lot of point in shooting him now.

  8. I suppose if they also shoot Vance there must be another election.

If both POTUS and VP (heaven forfend) die in office, the role goes to the Speaker of the House. There’s a well-defined order of precedence, down to the SoS for Ag.

  9. CNN is *still* saying “we’re hours away from Harris addressing the nation”. Somebody needs to give her a full equality gender non-specific slap and tell her to get her shit together.

  10. Congress will be tight…

But seriously.. Trump got the electoral *and* popular vote. Plus the Senate, quite likely Congress..
This is still the US elections, which are usually extremely close.
    This one… isn’t…

The Dems got quite thoroughly bitchslapped in this one, no way about it.
Now for the next question… Will they grow up and learn from this, or will they simply sacrifice Harris ( you have to feel sorry for her somewhat…) and double down on what lost them this race to begin with?

  11. Oh, and Happy Day…

We stand a very decent chance on Trump being true to his word, and let Musk do a Twitter on the US Blob…

If someone can do it it’s Musk… Probably won’t get very far, with no real structureal change…yet.. the rot is too deep and too extensive..
But the fireworks and popcorn times will be well worth it… 🙂

I think he’s probably safe now Vance is VP.

  13. BiND – wow, that was amazing. Every single word was true, no wonder his talking head colleagues looked stunned.

A calm and devastatingly concise Howard Beale.

  14. By the way

The German coalition has collapsed. Scholz has sacked the FDP leader Lindner for getting too stroppy.

    Confidence vote in January
    Elections probably in March.

  15. BiND

    Thanks for that Twitter link.

Revenge is the operative word there.

Of course these people won’t ‘get it’.

    Ever

That might have been me responding to BiS who had expressed concern about BBC News being on suicide watch. I saw that Maitlis clip this morning which made my heart skip a beat for joy.

There is so much of this kind of material online that I might not be able to get to sleep- my favourite so far was the US expert who invited us to think of how the parents of “trans-kids” might be feeling. At the risk of seeming callous: Yay!
