This is the defence, note….

A spokesman for the Treasury said they had “had to make difficult choices to fix the foundations of the country and restore desperately needed economic stability to allow businesses to thrive”.

“By doing this, more than half of employers will either see a cut or no change in their national insurance bills, there will be £22.6bn more for the NHS and workers’ payslips will be protected from higher tax.

So the £23 billion is being raised from only half of businesses then. No wonder that half are complaining….

  1. Aren’t half of businesses one-man bands? This would make sense as if they’re self-employed they’d be paying Class 2/4 NICs, not Class 1.

  2. Since no politician is ever going to change those two blazing icons of the success of socialism, the National Killing Service or the Black Broadcasting Company, the only route to reform is to stop paying tax.

  3. How can £22.6bn more for the NHS
    possibly
fix the foundations of the country ?
Was everyone in the Treasury trained at the BoE?

However, the public sector will be indemnified from plucking which is why more than half of employers will either see a cut or no change in their national insurance bills

  4. Employers aren’t joking, there’s a scramble on to sack British staff wherever possible. Big companies are doubling down on India, which is a fatal mistake that will leave UK plc a hollow shell. The job market was shaky before Reeve’s looting budget, now it’s moribund.

The problems with Bharatry are well documented and those of us unlucky enough to find ourselves unwillingly turned into Hindoo Whisperers know all about the low quality of their work and hideous expenses they inflict on the business through mistakes, confusion and just not caring.

The other problem is that once you’ve sacked everyone in the UK who knew how to operate the IT systems or run a payroll or cut invoices, it will be incredibly difficult, painful, and expensive to bring those functions back onshore. And in the meantime, all your customers hate you because nobody likes dealing with offshore.

There are great Indian techies and whatnot, but 90% of them don’t want to work, they just want to forward emails to each other. See also: the Indian midget conman who used to be our prime minister.

  5. They also have very brittle personalities that refuse to accept responsibility, while expecting to be showered with praise for eventually completing the most basic of tasks.

I usually get one of the Big Indians on a Teams call to shout at the Little Indians when they’re being particularly truculent. I’m not allowed to call them Bloody Bastard Bitches, but my mate Ranjit can.

  6. But consider the irony of being an Indian immigrant to the UK who is forced to train his Indian replacement in India before being made redundant.

I know a guy that happened to this year.

  7. In my tootling around post office branches, more than a handful of pastmasters have mentioned reducing staffing hours due to increased employee costs.

  8. “ . to fix the foundations of the country…”

Fossil fuels are the foundations of the Country – Labour certainly is “fixing” those.

  9. “ there will be £22.6bn more for the NHS and workers’ payslips”

Well, public sector workers’ payslips anyway
