Domestic abusers could be freed from jail on electronic tags as little as a quarter of the way through their sentence under new legislation laid before Parliament.
Offenders convicted of crimes such as harassment, stalking, coercive control and non-fatal strangulation will normally be presumed unsuitable to be released early with a tag and an at-home curfew.
The new legislation, however, states that the governor at the domestic abuser’s prison can release them early if there are “exceptional circumstances justifying this”.
At a guess exceptional means “We’ve spent all hte money on train drivers wages so have no space in the jail”.
I was unsurprised that one enterprising “domestic violence” prisoner was released, immediately went round to his accusers place, beat the crap out of her and is now on the lam.
Who could have ever imagined that would happen? *shocked face*
Domestic abusers are ‘re-offending within days’ after early release from prison
Maybe if we’d deported some or all of the 10,000+ foreign prisoners in the jails then there would be room enough not to release any of these scrotes early?
Just a thought for Two Tier Kier there.
Got to free up space in prison for all those wreckers and saboteurs!
They won’t run out of money because of that. They will find some somewhere because it isn’t criminals they are imprisoning now and they have a decades worth of Twitter to investigate for hate crimes. Need to make room for these more serious cases.
I make my usual call for the Singaporean solution of a few whacks with the rattan.
Mind you, I’d have no objection to the nongs who release them getting the wallop as well as the bint bashers.
Can anyone here explain what “coercive control” really means? Is this a crime relating to minors or those not mentally competent, or can you be charged for this related to a functioning adult? It sounds quite a bit like “my boyfriend keeps talking me into doing things”.
Can anyone here explain what “coercive control” really means?
I presume it means, with absence of violence, one person in the relationship dominates so controls the other against their will. Might result from the control of finances.
But if you started unpacking it, you might find there’s more men on the receiving end than women. And can easily happen. He would like to get out of it but if he leaves her, she keeps all the assets & he ends up with nothing but the liabilities. Way the law’s set up, isn’t it?
