A cash-strapped council “unlawfully” used low traffic neighbourhoods (LTNs) as a taxation on motorists to “balance the books” by raising millions of pounds from fines, legal papers claim.
Croydon council created six LTNs as a “revenue-raising exercise with no environmental benefits that unhelpfully dispersed traffic to surrounding roads”, the High Court will hear.
A judicial review being brought by residents of the London borough will claim the LTNs should be “quashed” because the primary motivation behind them was “financial security … rather than environmental considerations”.
Wouldn’t surprise in the slightest now, would it?
Something tells me that no one will be interested in all those children who were allowed to “transition” without their parents knowledge and subsequently committed suicide 🙁
This is one of those stories where the only possible reaction is “like, duh !”
Twas ever thus. I got clipped by a bus lane camera targeted at the last 2meters of a bus lane just before a traffic clogged crossroads where I wanted to turn left. Along with several thousand others I expect. I didn’t even think I’d gone into the (empty) bus lane to get to the ( also empty) left lane, but had been at the lights for 3 cycles and not moved so perhaps was a bit impatient.
I am of the opinion that everything government does is simply to fleece as many of the proles as possible, and every reason they give to justify their theft is complete and utter bollocks.
What Addolff said, and we all know it!
So, what’s the reason for Sheffield City Council turning the city centre into something looking like Beiruit? The only thing missing is armed guards on the entry checkpoints.
“ because the primary motivation behind them was “financial security … rather than environmental considerations”
Isn’t that the primary motivation of all traffic-obstructing ANPR-fining systems? And haven’t we all known that ever since the first one was launched?

I wonder if this particular lot were stupid enough to have actually said so?
