Six Cabinet ministers would lose their seats to Reform UK in a general election, a new survey has revealed.
Prominent Labour figures including Angela Rayner, the Deputy Prime Minister, and Yvette Cooper, the Home Secretary, would lose to Reform if an election were held today.
The More in Common think tank for the Sunday Times has found that Labour would lose nearly 200 of the seats it won in July, after months of negative polls for Sir Keir Starmer.
Seven Cabinet ministers would lose their seats, six going to Nigel Farage’s party and one to an independent candidate, according to a survey based on data of more than 11,000 people.
My sympathies are farily well known etc. But that’s not what is imporant here at all.
Wes Streeting, the Health Secretary, is also projected to lose his seat, but to an independent candidate. In July he narrowly beat a pro-Gaza challenger in Ilford North by just under 600 votes.
That little vileness of religious politics is what is important. Far more dangerous to the body politic than anything else going on.
Angela Rayner loses her seat; we can but dream.
Throw in Ed Millipede and it’s a deal.
You’re spot on about the dangers of the religion-inspired independents. Clue: they ain’t Methodists.
Reform and the far rightmoslems present a clear and obvious threat to democracy.Agreed.
The importation of around four million likely supporters before the next election into already close-knit demographic clusters means that a large-scale irreversible increase in their representation both in national and local government is as near to a certainty as you will ever get in politics. These people can organise and they just love voting (until eventually they won’t have to bother).
Ironically events over the next four years could force many traditional red wall Labour supporters into voting Reform so maybe there is one more twist to the story.
When I was younger, I used to think that Bertolt Brecht’s point about the government dissolving the electorate and electing another was darkly sinister humour. Today, I find myself thinking about mass deportations and marvelling at his far-sightedness.
That little vileness of religious politics is what is important. Far more dangerous to the body politic than anything else going on.
True, but that doesn’t fit the Establishment’s narrative.
I demand the far right media stop pretending Reform are friends of the working.class.
Farage has close links to Nomad Capitalist.
Richard Tice had offshore accounts.
How is that patriotic?
Reform are globalist elitists of the worst kind.
The far right nationalists are enemies of the working class.
The far right see the working class as.crims and parasites.
Yes, the Moslems and Marxists are unlikely bedfellows (!), Perhaps I’ll ask TTK if I can summon up the courage to go to the club he and Lord A use. Obviously, I’d have to go incognito.
Now, where did I put that gear? I just hope it hasn’t got rusty…
“Wes Streeting, the Health Secretary, is also projected to lose his seat, ”
Only if he doesn’t get thrown off of a tall building first.
Otto, that’s got to be a foul far-right rumour! Otherwise, he’d be deputy PM or a very close friend of you know who…
I can remember Ilford North as being solidly white middle class & skilled working class. Large Jewish community. One of the better parts of London suburbia. Now….?
bis, likewise East Ham. Some very well to do houses down around Central Park in particular.
In the early seventies we used to refer to it as ‘New Pakistan’.
– I demand the far right media stop pretending Reform are friends of the working.class.
“Real Man” finally returns as ridiculous as ever, and still fascinated by big man appendages.
– I demand the far right media stop pretending Reform are friends of the working.class.
Well go on then, but this here place isn’t ‘far right media’. It’s a person’s musings, with commentary. You’re barking up the wrong tree. The ‘far right media’ all have Letters pages. Have you thought of writing to them to make your demands there? You could call yourself “Disgusted of Tunbridge Wells”.
I’m sure that Stress Wetting will find a safer seat before then.
To arrange that is just one more incentive for him to lead a “Dump Sir Kneel” crusade.
That little vileness of religious politics is what is important. Far more dangerous to the body politic than anything else going on.
You sure about that? They now have adherents to a belief system
runningruining the country. How’s that working out for them?Personally I like that extremists have their own party – that way Labour etc are less likely to appease them – good news for the Batley school teacher.
“Six Cabinet ministers would lose their seats to Reform UK in a general election.”
They should look on the bright side. It’s less than the number that would lose their heads in a revolution.
likewise East Ham. Some very well to do houses down around Central Park in particular.
East Ham was, at one time, a wealthy area. Many of those houses were built by those engaged in Empire trade because it was convenient for the docks. And originally it extended up to Wanstead Flats which are part of Epping Forest & east as far as the River Roding.
My great-great grandfather used to graze his horses on land that was sold to dump the ash from Beckton gas works & became known as the Beckton Alp. So if knighted I could rightfully claim a mountain be included in my coat of arms. Although these days I s’ppose it must be the Beckton Himalaya.
Vote Reform for the Reconquista of England.
Steve ; so are you saying Reform will put the King of Spain in charge of the English. Not very bright are you?
By the way, England and the UK are not the same thing. Keep Ducking Corporate Duck. See you next Tuesday.
Pjf – I never even mentioned male appendages. That was you. So you are hoist by your own petard.
Elton – Steve ; so are you saying Reform will put the King of Spain in charge of the English. Not very bright are you?
Yes, that’s what Reconquista means. If I had said entrepreneurialism, we’d need a French monarch.
By the way, England and the UK are not the same thing.
Exactly. England is our nation. The UK is an arbitrary geographic area.
England is not our nation. England is part of the nation called the UK. Scotland and Wales are not in England. EDUCATE YOURSELF!
Nigel Farage is boasting of how many members he has. It is almost like he is overcompensating for something.
No wonder they say Farage is the British Trump.
I have a devastating question for Farage.
Here it is.
DO YOU SUPPORT TRUMP PUTTING TARRIFS ON UK TRADE TO THE USA?
Has he been bought off by the right wing in the USA.
Does Farage want the USA tariffs to damage the UK economy so labour will fail and he can win power?
Well Farage answer the FING QUESTION?
Dunno Mate. I stopped working for him 15 years ago. Just got offered a job I preferred.
My suggestion is that if you want Nigel to answer a question then you ask Nigel. You know, obvious is obvious?
It is worrying, but I’m also amused by how the left thought they could bring people in who would be allies, and instead, they’ve created their own clan-based parties. It’s like the Queers for Palestine thing.
You can’t bring in cheap migrants from barely industrialised countries into an industrialised country. The whole culture is different.
so are you saying Reform will put the King of Spain in charge of the English. Not very bright are you?
You are a stupid boy, aren’t you? The clue is in the word Reconquista. The conquering of England by His Dubiousness Felipe would be conquista. Since England has never had a Spanish monarch. REconquista would be recovering the land from the infidel by a monarch of English descent. Anglo-Saxon or Norman as you like (although I s’pose we could settle for Dutch or Hanoverian). Unfortunately the current incumbent hardly seems up to the job.
To riff off of the other thread, even the trolls seem bereft of a decent education these days. Should we blame it on the declining standard of bridges?
@ Elon Tusk
When you get round to educating yourself you will learn that there are two alternative definitions of “Nation”, one of which would classify England, Scotland and Wales as three separate nations while the other would not quite fit the United Kingdom inasmuchas North/rural Wales and the Scottish Highlands have different languages from England.
When you do so, you will, I trust, apologise to Steve.
Aren’t you on rather dodgy ground there, John? Both Belgium & Switzerland are regarded as nations but have more than one language. As does this one. Marginally, so does France since Flamand was recognised. But since only in one commune in Dept Nord, very marginal.
– I never even mentioned male appendages.
Nobody forced you to choose Elon’s Tusk for your nom de bume.
Now you’re checking out Nigel’s membership.
Are you for Palestine? I bet you are.
WB: “You can’t bring in cheap migrants from barely industrialised countries into an industrialised country.”
You evidently can, judging from the masses arriving left and right, legally or illegally.
Whether there’s a number of undesireable second-order effects coming into play there is a separate issue, but bring them in, you can.
What are the odds that as soon as someone mentions ‘bumming’, Elon’s will go haywire and the Caps Lock will be superglued on.
Elon Tusk: “Scotland and Wales are not in England. EDUCATE YOURSELF!”
Wales actually is part of England and has been for centuries, though nowadays what was England is referred to as “England and Wales” in parliamentary legislation.
DO YOU SUPPORT TRUMP PUTTING TARRIFS ON UK TRADE TO THE USA?
At the risk of feeding the troll…
Yes. Because he is meant to act in the interests of his electorate and his country.
It’s just a shame that our politicos seem intent on acting in the best interests of third world goat herders.
Ah well, the coming collapse and anarchic transition will be long and bloody. Got an escape route?
@ bis
Perhaps – I was in a hurry so I used the Cambridge Dictionary as it was easy to access online. But even if I make the effort to look it up in the OED, “nation” is not the same as country. The Basques are a nation, Spain is a country. I think Belgium is a country, a Kingdom, but it doesn’t meet the Cambridge definition of a “nation” and I don’t *think* it meets the Oxford one either.
A quirk is that “British” is generally viewed as a “nationality”, as is “Belgian”, but “Basque” is not …
“What are the odds that as soon as someone mentions ‘bumming’, Elon’s will go haywire and the Caps Lock will be superglued on.”
I noticed that a while back. He didn’t seem to like it when I pointed out that getting mega upset about being called a Friend of Dorothy was in itself homophobic……
