This could be true of course

Gregg Wallace has claimed allegations made against him of sexually inappropriate conduct have been made by a “handful of middle-class women of a certain age”.

Wallace, 60, has been accused by multiple women of inappropriate conduct, including mimicking a sexual act on a member of staff.

It might even be a valid defence. Not that it’s going to be in this modern world….

  1. I’d rather like to watch Masterchef but have never been able, because of this know-nothing gobshite. 30 seconds of his punchable mug is too much for the blood pressure.

It doesn’t surprise me at all to learn that he’s a groping bully. I am surprised that none of the contestants has given him a cast iron pan in the chops.

  2. The problem is that the BBC is such a corrupt organisation, seemingly quite astute at recruiting nonces, pervs and pedos about whom it lies profusely, that the truth of the matter won’t be known for another six months at least…

True? Quite possibly. Plenty of bitter, wine drinking cat ladies who can make a claim, regardless of the veracity of such claims.

    Valid defence? Not so much.

Watch as any civil court case gets allocated to a female judge of advancing years.

  4. Never heard of him before this, but checking this story out I’ve just seen a video of him asking how many women do we think he has heard making sexual innuendos during the course of his lengthy career.

That’s a very reasonable question which raises the issue of double standards in play.

“So, Nigella, when you stood exposing your cleavage and poked a wooden spoon between your pouting lips, allowing just a little of the white creamy sauce to dribble down, what exactly were you intending to convey?”

  5. Meh.. I think he’s making the right choice there.

Whatever he does, however much he grovels, it doesn’t matter because some menopausal sourpusses have Accused him.
True or not, we’ve seen how this will end. Time and time again.

Given that the end result will be the same, he might as well go on the offense and go out in a blaze of glory giving the two-finger salute.

Apropos of nothing I just googled the board of OFCOM and was not at all surprised to see it comprised of stereotypical middle-class women of a certain age. Admittedly around half of them are men but they’re still guaranteed to think like women.

  7. P.s. compare and contrast the speed and thoroughness of the bbc’s reaction to what are still allegations to their prevarication in other cases including that of an ex news-reader.

  8. What Grikath said – never grovel or show weakness, these harridans who hunt in packs can’t be bought off. Put up a defence! It doesn’t matter if it’s an effective one, you have the satisfaction that they will stew in their own bitter juices at the temerity of it!

  9. I find these historic tales of sexual misconduct suspicious.

In my younger days, any “inappropriate” male on female behaviour resulted in a slap on the face or a very loud rebuke. Women were on guard where men who were known to be a bit “handy” or a “lech” were concerned, and were quick to discourage any advances.

Since clearly none of these “victims” reacted or did anything about it at the time, my conclusion too late – should have done something about it at the time.

I think a statute of limitations

  10. I was watching the Bake Off final the other day (sorry, need to keep the wife company now the kids have all grown up). A large, nearly 50 year old presenter spontaneously grabbed a small 20 year old contestant from behind and proceeded to “jiggle” them to cheer them up when things were going wrong. It was very funny to watch and it worked.

The presenter was a very likable large black woman. The contestant was a quiet and extremely talented young man of Indian/Japanese/Belgian descent.
That fact that this amusing moment moment was aired shows the disparity. Instead of it being a great TV moment had a 50 year old white bloke done this to a 20 year old girl the result would have been legal action. Possibly not now but certainly in the next 30 years.

  11. I share Marius’s views on Wallace (Gromit I quite like), but from what I’ve seen (not that I’ve been following closely) the allegations are of telling off-colour jokes in mixed company. But quite likely there will be more to come, now the gravy train is rolling.

  12. “That’s a very reasonable question which raises the issue of double standards in play.”

Doesn’t the British Bake Off make a whole thing of double entendres? Soggy bottoms etc etc? Are they all going to get removed from the air now?

  13. That the allegations made against him of sexually inappropriate conduct have been made by a “handful of middle-class women of a certain age” does not preclude Wallace from being an utter, boorish bell-end. He certainly looks like one. He simply needed sorting out by a proper woman.

I recall, when I went to Art School, one of the male students who fancied himself as a bit of a gift to womankind. At what may have been an end of term party he was dancing with the rather hot wife of one of the tutors, and doing some rather public grinding. She undid his fly, got his dick out, and then walked off. It was hilarious and everyone saw. He moderated his behaviour after that.

That’s all it needs: a woman who is actually strong, rather than a shrinking violet who proclaims to be.

  14. There are certainly a lot of middle class women of a certain age complaining about the inappropriateness of his comment that it was all MCWOACE moaning in the first place.
