I’m always amazed that the media can spout things like this and at the same time warn us that unless we can limit the global average temperature increase to less than 1.5C the planet will burn to a cinder…

Worth pointing out that the Overton Window Tim’s talking about is actually a media Overton Window not a voter one. It’s not whether the voter will agree with your message but whether the media will let them hear it. The question is, how much influence do the MSM still have now?
